This is a hard one, but I like High School (and College) AUs fanfictions.

High school AUs can be hard to pull off, but I have also read a lot of good ones where you can tell the author put in effort to make it realistic ^^
Canon divergence is fun, I see it often and it's a fun & easy trope, very good for creative liberties aha

I write it a lot. I'm currently working on one about a hairdresser who falls for 5SOS Michael after he brings his (fictitious) daughter in for a haircut. I don't find celeb fanfics cringe at all, probably because I've been exposed to it for a long time so am used to it.
