Do you reread books? (1 Viewer)

My bestie is a one-and-done. She has her favorites -- she even has a tattoo for her favorite series -- but she never rereads books.

I only keep books on my bookshelf that I think I'll reread, and my current read is a reread. (It's a really dense fantasy world, so I don't feel like I remember the details well enough from when I first read it.)

Very rarely. I like the suspense of not knowing whats next

Non-fiction: I reread books by authors like Ervin László, Jane Roberts, Ryan Holiday, Robert Greene. I read Emerson's 'Complete Works' three times so far.

Fiction: Rarely but it happened. I read the complete works by Poe two times. But I guess my most reread books are the stories by Lovecraft.
Every time I play an Eldritch horror game, I want to read some Lovecraft stories.

only for my absolutely favorite books since i heavily annotate all my books so there's no need to reread, i can just read my annotations

i have Series with over 20 rereads.
LOTR Dresden ( they are so short its super easy)
actually doing wheel of time again now.

many in the 10+ range
even more in 5+ well over 100 books in the 5+ area
i typically do not even buy a book unless i plan on rereading it.

Exactly!! There's something nice about a comforting reread in your favorite world(s) with your favorite characters. I feel like a good book needs to be able to hold up to being thought about and read again.

Especially if I like the book.

But I tend to skip forward pages I feel are filler.

Nothing compares to reading a book the first time tho

I definitely have reread fanfics but actual novels? nope, I usually read them once and then i'm done bc i'm a bit of a slow reader. Although I do remember rereading the curious George and Junie b Jones and raggedy ann and Andy books countless times.

I'm the same way with "filler" pages. some authors will infodump with the character's personal history and stuff, and I tend to skip over that bc more often than not, it's useless garbage anyway.

Definitely.
Even when I read the first time I barely catch on what's happening.
That's why I love to reread books.
