I always stand up for myself even at work where I obviously have to go through a manager as getting myself in trouble over it would be just dumb but I'm a firm believer that you don't let people think they can treat you without respect especially if they're somehow you'll have to interact with more than once.​

I try to stand up for myself. I once had a boss who disrespected me....immediately started looking for a new job afterwards.

Yeah when it comes to strangers most of the time it's just dumb snide passing comments that aren't worth addressing and I think the only time I've bothered responding to a stranger is when one made a comment "cheer up mate it's not the end of the world" and that was just such a tone deaf thing to say to a stranger I just made a snide remark back
