Befriend people your own age or significantly younger/older?

I have a habit of the significantly younger/older

usually people who are close in age or slightly younger than me — i don’t have younger friends intentionally, i’ll just start to be friends with them and then find out they are like a year or 2 younger than me

Significantly younger/older. Growing up all my friends were a few years older than me. But now my friends I met at work are younger than me for the most part with like 1-2 exceptions
