I sometimes wondered why I watched them... some of the people I watched wouldn't even say anything

Same. I especially hate the ones where the individuals have gained a literal 600 ibs since doing mukbangs and when you eat you can hear their labored breath. I'm not against eating competitions, but when you have personalities that make their empire by eating the equivalent of 2 large pizzas a dish of spaghetti a bag of breadsticks and six brownies three times per week then I feel... it's not good for anyone involved.
