Does training period equate to talent? (2 Viewers)

Why do some trainees only train for like a few months and others wait years for debut? Is this a measure of their talent? Or is this the company just chosing idols that fit the image of the group they’re about to debut?

Probably depends on what image they want/have since it's easier for a company to debut a group that just sounds good enough when they have no reputation on the line versus companies who have a reputation and could end up with a disappointing group because of previous groups perception

i believe it all depends on the company's decisions or sometimes their age (even though the industry is obsessed with debuting kids for some reason). twice jihyo trained for a whole decade and no one can tell me she's less talented than someone who trained for a few days.

i don't think it really is a matter of talent, a lot of it does have to do with companies choosing idols that fit the image of their group. also could be due to age being taken into consideration, seeing as several trainees are very young (11 or 12).

additionally, pre-debut groups disband. svt's s.coups and woozi were meant to be in a group called tempest, but that broke up pre-debut. they'd have otherwise debuted in 2013 i think (which... would have been a very messy situation seeing as nu'est debuted in 2012). same with jype's 6mix, and twice's nayeon, jeongyeon, and jihyo.

Well it's confusing because you look at some idols who have little training and are amazing like Baekhyun from EXO or Olivia from LOONA then you see idols like Giselle (no hate but she really needs more time).

You all have watched the produce series and multiple idol survival shows. Some of those trainees trained for a long time but when it came to performing they just weren't good at all. Some of the trainees had a unique character that made them stand out despite less training. I imagine that good trainees will be held onto by the company in preparation for something good/the company might make the group around the idol themself. That being said, I think the answer is no.

Its a multiplicity of factors.

Mostly remember just because trainee x trained at an agency for time period, that is most likely not al of the training they had.

But typically shorter term trainees have honed a skill or trained extensively some where else.

Eunji Kyuhyun types were crazy fast but were experts already.
Wonyoung Yujin and Chaewon types have a lifetime of training in skills and comportment


No one drops out of the sky a singer or dancer without aptitude and crazy amounts of work.

Bigger companies will pick very young trainees planning for the future and they just may not be ready or fit the concept.

and they may get passed over for groups.
