WARNING - this is sad as f*ck especially if you live away from parents. I always thought foreign idols who made money can fly their parents out to korea for korean holidays. But if the main vocalist of 3rd gen from a big "ass" ;) company can't do that than I really worry how many pennies lesser known idols make :/

I think it has less to do with money and more to do with time and company restriction. Local idols barely see their parents as well. I remember one of the OMG members said that they went to their hometown for an event but weren't allowed to go visit their homes because of scheduling conflicts and stuff.

Do not forget that idols work more behind the scenes:
choreo alone takes up a month in SM. They need to sing songs as well.
And concerts takes months to prepare!

What we see is only the tip of the ice berg of idols' daily lives.
This doesn't even mention extra training/lessons

Joy said that the other 4 could go home so its really mean if Wendy couldn't fly her parents over if the other 4 were at home :(

If you watch the video I linked Joy says during holidays all 4 would be at home while Wendy would be alone at dorm. What could s.m want with her alone not like she is solo or anything.

She tends to bake and hang out with the management team.
Supposedly she is not poor even before SM.
Her folks did come out for Red Room. Its a long long flight basically a day each way. The holiday might be 1-3 days max. Most real holidays Idols work.
Irene, Seulgi , Joy were prerecording with the twice girls on Christmas.

as others said: I doubt it‘s about money. It‘s rather about schedule‘s, , time management etc. Idols work every day of the year and usualy work on holidays too ( or around them to film specials for tv stations)

I'm pretty sure her parents work too. She comes from a wealthy family and as far as I remember, they still work even though Wendy is a successful celebrity. Not sure if that has changed though. So even if she has time, maybe they just don't? That's a possibility. Because I doubt it's because she doesn't have money. I mean, like I mentioned, her family is wealthy so even if she doesn't have money (for whatever reason) they would. Also, visiting familiy in the same city as you is a million times easier than visiting family on a whole other continent.
