Sci Fi - the Moon is a harsh mistress

Fantasy: I would expect this to maybe be about people who only roam the Earth at night because the daylight has become so harsh as a result of pollution and mutations have grown as well. But there is one part of Earth that is still beautiful, particularly at night the gardens of the moon. Where only the most elite people reside and a man/woman wants nothing more than to live with those people who do not have to fend for themselves against the harsh world that surrounds them and fear their lives during the day time.

Sci-Fi: I would assume this is in the future where Earth is inhabitable and we are venturing out to other planets for habitation. However, during exploration, someone lands on the moon and gets stranded upon it and discovers how hard it would actually be to survive there as a human.

This is one of his few adult titles that is not super weird.
His semi YA titles (they didnt have ya back in the day ) are much more enjoyable and some of my very favorite books.
