Dua Lipa's "Physical" kinda ruined Everglow "La di da" for me a little (1 Viewer)

Since I'm absolutely clueless about modern Western music I pretty much had no clue what Dua Lipa was releasing so I missed her newest album last year.

Meanwhile I was extremely happy about the 80s synth revival in Kpop and Everglow's La Di Da was pretty much the cream of the crop, my SOTY. In fact when Twice came out with a synth bop of their own in ICSM, I still loved it a lot but not as much as I potentially could have due to La Di Da being just that good.

That was until I finally came around to hearing the entirety of Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia album (10/10 btw, one of the best pop albums I can remember in ages, though I check out barely anything lol). And wow, Physical slaps hard and how



I love the whole album but this song suits my musical taste so perfectly

I love The Weeknd's Blinding Lights too but Physical eclipsed even that song to become one of my fav Western tracks in years.

And ever since, I really can't enjoy La Di Da as much anymore lol. It's still a great song but the Physical influence is so clear when I listen to it, it's hard not to compare. I could draw parallels between the verses, pre chorus, even the short sing rap section and of course the bombastic chorus. I will say La Di Da's short instrumental bridge is still superior but the rest of the song, I only keep thinking of how Dua Lipa did it better lol, plus it doesn't have any lyrics about haters, bad guys and players so I automatically like it more

This isn't meant as a disrespect to Everglow or La Di Da, but I'm kinda sad that I ditched a Kpop song for something Western, hasn't happened in a while

But Future Nostalgia and Physical, bops served by Dua Lipa

Bruh I have no clue about Western soloists so Idk what Ariana, Taylor, Selena, Cardi B or anyone is releasing lmao, so I wasn't expecting Dua to slap so hard wtf
I just saw someone in Reddit praise Physical and say how it was one of the definining synthpop anthems of the year and decided to check it out, and then the whole album. 10/10 no skips all the way.

Yeah I listened to Physical a few times and was like wait this kinda seems familiar but why lol. And then it clicked
I think the big success of Physical and Blinding Lights def set the path for Kpop 2020 in a big way.

i'm listening to la di da exactly as i'm typing this post lmao i love physical (still not as much as la di da), but ngl i forgot this song exists and if it wasn't for this thread it would stay that way because i'm also completely clueless about modern western music. i love the 80s synth revival in kpop, but outside of kpop i just prefer to listen to songs which were actually released in the 80s. and while we're at i can't also say i ditched any of my favourite kpop songs for a western song because there aren't really any similarities between what i listen to outside of k-pop and my k-pop faves no matter how much i try to find them

Dua‘s album is fantastic and one of the best of last year. She certainly is a queen that knows how to release bops.

same here at this point if someone in kpop plagiarised any of the western songs i like i would be actually glad that happened well not really of course but you get what i mean

lmaooo to this day i wish these were just misheard lyrics but no, everglow's lyricists unironically used the word haters in 2020. i guess the thing that helps me here is the fact that many songs i love even more have lyrics which are just as ridiculous as that so maybe i just have a thing for songs which sound like the lyrics to them were written by a 12 year old

Dua is honestly a blessing

totally get it but Miley seriously grew up and her new style and the way she sings is amazing. It‘s more rock inspired and it is perfect

Both songs are bops honestly. I genuinely like a lot of Dua Lipa's music, especially her synth/disco tracks. I haven't listened to 'La Di Da' in a while because well, I listened too much when it released and got a bit bored after a while.. But it's a nice song to listen to once in a while lol.
