Fireworks... stop them or keep them? (2 Viewers)

This seems to be a topic that only recently gained a lot more discussion...
I'm curious what you people think about it?

Belgium did have some regulations (in some cities it was forbidden, some allowed it only between a certain time),
however, people were not happy at all.
Horses died tonight.
My instructor's horses had fireworks in their direction shot as a joke, thank god they didn't escape cuz when they cause an accident, it's your fault.

Then there's someone who lives behind our house in a block where houses are packed together who shoots his own fireworks.
Every year there are accidents because of fireworks ending up in cars, houses, etc of innocents.
Thank god he didn't shoot his fireworks at 2 AM like last year.

So yea, I am against fireworks.
I don't mind if it were these silent ones so children, people sensitive to sounds and animals aren't scared
or maybe only do it in bigger cities so everyone can come to one place to watch it

I saw a picture of a horse who died tonight, his buddy had to watch over him cuz they don't take dead horses during holidays. It only had a blanket over him, but horses know it's their buddy
If there weren't fireworks it would still be alive.

They are FAR more of a nuisance than anything else.

Big or small, they are explosives. They unnecessarily traumatise vulnerable people and a lot of animals.

Time to think about huge drone/light displays in the future, which I saw an article about not long ago. It's a much better idea. Far more modern, can do literally anything with the display and the music/sounds that play along with it won't traumatise anyone.

I was surprised this time cuz there was barely anyone on the street, which was different all the years before, just a few individuals but not the many families that normally shoot fireworks here, but even with this small amount the street filled up with smoke and rubbish everywhere, I'm just glad the guys who normally throw things under cars were somewhere else this time or didn't do anything at all.

The amount of police and ambulances that drove through were worrying as well, idk why people can't just use fireworks like normal people but have to angle them weird ways, throw them at other people etc. for the only thing that can happen to happen, others getting hurt.

I think a good middle ground would be maybe to just have fireworks at the countries capital. Overall I want them to be gone but I doubt that will happen so as the suggestion to just have them at a main building from a capital city and then send it live to the TV's would be a good compromise ig.

I honestly don't like them. I hate the sound. It'd be fine if the weather conditions were okay, but they're not here and on top of that, some people have set unnecessary fires in their neighbourhoods just because they're too stubborn to listen to the government rules against doing so in your own home these days.

They were about to be cancelled for this year but at the last second, they decided to do it.

I don't think we should completely ban fireworks. But we should definitely control them and where they are set off.

I don't know if i'd say get rid of them completely but they shouldn't be in the hands of idiots like who fires one at a horse? It'd seem fine to me if there were very specific areas you could set them off specifically as an annual thing like a firework show instead of doing it in your own backyard.

If someone wants to see them that badly they can travel to an area they won't be disturbing anyone or anything.

I don't mind music as much as these loud bangs so light shows or something would be better

I am for keeping them. If you make them completely illegal some people are going ot find illegal means to get them. By that they are bound to get hands on stuff that is worse then the legal stuff. What I do think, and this especially goes for the US, there needs to be more enforcement on fireworks and complaints need to be taken seriously and not brushed off. At first shot at private property people should be charged with arson or attempt there of. Anyone who lights off those large illegal fireworks should get charged with tempt of arson.

Had a friend who worked for a volenteer fire department who got a call for his own house when some people where letting off illegals. Thankfully his house wasn't lost but it was close. Thankfully he put up dry wall on his basement ceiling because he didn't know where to store it or his house would have been gone.

Thing is it's not the fireworks it's the lack of anyone enforcing behavior. For years we had our rude neighbor, keeping my language clean, shooting ariels at our house. Even on non-holiday days. We had plenty of evidence and firework left overs. However it was on the basis if the cops saw it then they could do anything about it.

And that folks is how people get out of hand and fires happen.

We have drones now don't tell me it's hard to monitor an area when illegal type fireworks are reported. Some where some how we need to start cracking down and trying to be safe.

There should be strict punishments in place for using them carelessly so people will think more carefully about where they use them like a hefty fine if you set them off in a neighbourhood without a permission from your neighbours and jail time if they result in the death of an animal or human because of it.

I think they should be banned near houses (Logical, they can break windows etc) and near places like farms etc.

Essentially keep out of the way of animals, dogs won't be disturbed bcs the fireworks are away from the houses.
Farm animals should be fine bcs they aren't near them.

It's been illegal for years here tho (since I can remember even)
yet somehow they say 'you can shoot them between these times'
that's a contradiction.

Tbh the place is more important than the time, if you are shooting them in the middle of nowhere then no matter what time no one is going to care because no one is around to care.

That's a problem with the police hiring people who don't wanna enforce things they don't agree with probably which they picked the wrong line of work then.

Like they could have used the millions of sydney's fireworks to help the bushfires, but people are greedy and stupid so....

Honestly, with all that's going on in the news today, when I heard them last night, I thought they were gunshots.

Not to mention they could affect people with PTSD.
