These past couple days I've recieved so much discrimination such as being called a certain n word that has to do with a certain German man. I've been shunned, turned away, and told by many people that they are disgusted thay I exist. And these people where the left....

I sadly think this mindset is why this election went this way to be honest. People were so focused on buzzwords and throwing around insults that they isolated a lot of people. Genuine people. You do not have to agree with every policy of the person you vote for-at the end of the day people have certain things that they are going to prioritize over other things that to some may be the MOST important thing.

It does not make you a vile human being undeserving of love and understanding. I miss when meaningful conversations could happen and an understanding be met but it's become so divisive and it's beyond sad.

I love my neighbors. It doesn't matter who you voted for-because you did what you felt you had to do whether it be for your family or your own well-being as did others. It's sad how twisted it's become-I'm sorry this is happening.

i'm sorry to hear that as those are obviously very harsh things to say, but at the same time - the exact things you mentioned such as being shunned and insulted are part of what minorities will have to live through on a daily basis (for example, lgbtq+ crisis hotlines are already reporting record-high numbers of calls) thanks to people who hold the same political views. it's much easier to have the "we can disagree and still respect each other" mindset when you're coming from a place of privilege where you won't have to worry about your basic human rights being taken away. i understand that such insults can deeply affect you and obviously it's not your fault that the rapist with 34 felony convictions was elected, but politics is not fun and games and all that outrage doesn't come out of nowhere. when a right-wing party in my country won the parliamentary elections a few years ago, i also had nothing nice to say about their supporters given what their victory could mean for people like me. i wouldn't go out and insult them as individuals, but people are angry and scared (which they have the right to be) and such emotions do not always translate well into words.

There is no such thing as good faith arguments in politics because political discussion has always been based on hatred and fear like marijuana being evil stems from it being lied about in politics.

Even as far back as left handed people being evil because it's not what you'd consider normal and hence why depictions of the devil usually use the left hand as people don't understand it so they attempt to vilify it.

This leads to bad discussions where you will bring out the worst in people and the internet alone generally does a pretty good job of that as it is since people care more about being right than doing right.

Not to mention the fear that women, people of colour and LGBTQIA+ people have to face in the US and even places that might be invaded by nearby countries as a result of their leaders feeling less threatened with Trump as president that those people have to consider too.

Quite a few people seem to be toxic when it comes to politics. It's absolutely ok when you vote and don't talk about it. It's nobody's business that you're republican.

As far as we know yet, there was no manipulated election and it wasn't even a very close result like most people expected. I wouldn't vote for Trump (although I don't think that Harris and Walz were the ideal candidates), but he won because the majority of Americans made a decision. It might be a totally wrong decision, but that's democracy.

Our government in Germany just collapsed and people tend to vote for the right-wing populist party 'AfD' in the next election. Many mistakes were made that led to that trend. Would I vote for the AfD? Nope. But I see why so many Germans currently think that we need to make that clear break.
