So Mu taking care of them to the end in case the merger did not bring a renewal of popularity.

Plus it would suck going from the team that put the food on the table/and the company on the map to one that at best buys the kimchi in the org.

Yeah I could see that and the timing of their contracts expiring in May also meant it'd be before when Gfriend usually has their Summer comeback so that could be used in the negotiations to try and entice them into resigning as I don't think Soumu wanted to be left with nothing.

Sinb's injury early on and what ever happened with Yuju seems to just have been enough to kill the meteoric rise.

Feels a bit surreal right now. Damn.

It sucks so much that this has happened and I usually try to find some positive things to say about their futures etc. However seeing as this is kinda out of the blue for me I haven't given it much thought. I just hope the girls are happy and continue to do what ever they wish to pursue. And maybe, just maybe, another company signs them all and they can continue together in some way? (Wishful thinking, but it's all I can do right now).

Don't know how true it is but people are saying that Soumu is bankrupt as they borrowed 8 million from Big Hit last year and couldn't pay it back so they have a big debt and not just Gfriend but other staff are resigning and the company is likely going to end up closing

I thought SouMu was supposed to be managing HYBE new girl group?
But this wouldn’t surprise me, it’s interesting how they were doing just fine financially before the merger but if BigHit invested in them and couldn’t recover the money, they might wanna cut losses.

I think that was just an assumption based on Big Hit not wanting to deal with girl groups anymore however the auditions themselves were for Big Hit so I guess they're willing to handle a girl group.

Well if the company dissolves then they could get rid of the debt and from what I saw it looked like the debt was 1.7M which isn't change to anyone and if the company was only staying open for Gfriend then this was probably the better outcome in their eyes.

Ok i think i found out the timing issue.

Because of the GLAM deal they signed the girls a bit early to keep em. It was a risk .. didnt the ceo put up his house?

The answer that i've seen to the timing is Gfriend were apparently going to debut earlier in 2014 when Jenny was still in the group but it kept being postponed until they landed on January so their contracts might have just come up however this isn't an area that I am particularly knowledgeable in and yeah the CEO sold his house to debut them.

I do not understand why some people blame the company. The girls themselves CHOSE not to resign, it isn't source's fault. Maybe they just got tired or the little engine that couldn't any longer.
