Here's what I wanna know though: Have PAKs gotten progressively easier to get?
You'd think it was the opposite as more streaming platforms came online and the audience became more dispersed.
But if you look at the list, every single song achieved its record in 2020 or later. Despite ten previous years of the existence of Perfect All-Kill.

That's a bit weird, innit? You would expect records to last a very long time. I remember thinking Dynamite would be unbeatable, and yet-

I think maybe it's more of a broader trend across music markets where the most popular music has become "stickier", paradoxically because listening tastes have become more diverse - IE, there is less consensus needed to hit the top, because there is less consensus in general, and once the top is reached, it becomes harder to be knocked off your perch, because you're very visible in a music industry that is dominated by a very large number of less-visible entities fighting for scraps. Does that make sense or am I way off base?

Nah, I was thinking the same. It's less likely that people converge on any given song or artist, so when something does break out with broad appeal, it's easy to crush the others. I think we see the same with some of the older artists who have retained broad GP support, like GD or Taylor Swift, that they can come in and basically sweep aside newer acts, even ones with very large fanbases, because they have both a large fanbase and general public awareness.

Similarly related, but it's something I find fascinating about a lot of Netflix documentaries, about how they make me aware that there are these HUGE fanbases for things I didn't even know existed, because the Internet makes it easy for you to find people "like" you and the algorithm keeps you in with things you already like.

For sure some of that.
But i think less charts to contribute some of which were easier to manipulate. And the moves to stop the nighttime bg crazyness. ( which you can still see some of with like the im hero thing)
Also much more strategic timing of releases. everything used to drop at midnight.
SM insistence on going to war with sites crushed the old school sm digi mons. its why Red velvet had their sm's first pak.
i think 300 and up are just such outliers.

this is from the wiki site
started in 2010/11 similar to gaon/circle.

Before 2015, the iChart aggregated scores from ten music service providers; these ten agencies were Melon, Mnet, Bugs!, Olleh, Soribada, Genie, Naver, Daum, Cyworld, and Monkey3. In February 2017, major domestic music distributors such as Melon, Bugs Genie, Mnet, Soribada, Naver Music, and Monkey3 changed their streaming calculation to real-time graphics only between 12pm and 6pm.[7] This meant that anything that was released outside of this time period would not count towards the chart until 1pm the following day. This major change was reported as a measure in music chart searches largely reflecting a song's popularity.[8][9] In May 2017, Olleh and Monkey3 were excluded from the Instiz iChart ranking calculation and Naver Music's score doubled. In February 2019, Flo was added to iChart. In October 2019, Mnet discontinued its service and merged with Genie, and was later removed from the chart. Naver Music has also been removed and replaced with Naver VIBE.

In May 2020, Melon made some changes to its real-time ranking calculation. The chart changed from rankings based on hourly usage per song to a chart calculated based on the number of unique listeners.[10] Streams and downloads from the last 24 hours were calculated instead of the last hour.[11]
