I mean technically SM didn't confirm that it was only 4 members, they just introduced 4 members in that video. So there's a chance there may be more (some people are thinking 7) but we'll see. Unless they do something like RV and hide a member like they did Joy until debut, I personally think it's unlikely that there will be more than 4 girls.

Ohhh the 3 subunits of 4 members would make sense. There have been rumours of SM doing something like that since RV's pre-debut days. Like a female version of EXO since RV didn't end up being the female EXO with the subunits everyone expected. It would be so interesting if this really ends up being that group!

This has kinda taken away a lot of my interest in the group ngl. It depends on how much these AI members are featured/pushed but the idea doesn’t sit right with me and sets a terrible precedent imo.

So SM has gone from wanting to expand into peoples countries with NCT to wanting to expand into peoples bedrooms with Aespa, major yikes and i'm gonna have to pass hard on this group.

Yeh I believe the youngest is an '02 liner so she's 18. Karina is the oldest and she's an '00 liner so she would be 20. The other two girls are '01 liners.

This is peak genius but it makes me worry about the futute of Kpop since companies will have the window open to create "idols" that can't complain or have basic human necessities...
That being said, if SME actually manages to do this properly the commercial implications maybe huge esp. because part of the interest in kpop is the self-insertion and the interaction with fans, as LSM said. Very interesting.

like if they dont start out strong like itzy i cant see sm being able to keep this up enough

No SM group has ever done as well as ITZY has at debut yet they all eventually hit big so I don't think having such high expectations for a new group is appropriate. The likelihood of them releasing a hit as soon as they debut isn't very high, and it rarely ever happens with SM. As far as I'm aware, wasn't it only SNSD's debut that ended up being a hit? Everyone else flopped at debut.

Also, from what I know they won't promote together with the "human" members but will instead promote in an alternate universe so they will release separate MVs and performances. So if you follow EXO, it's like their X-EXO concept only this time their counterparts actually exist in the form of AIs which will have their own promotions. But there's still not a lot of info on this entire thing yet so I guess we'll find out more once SM actually makes their plans more clear. That said though, I doubt they would jump into a project they couldn't fund. Pushing aside the weird concept, this has HUGE potential to big a very big concept amongst kids and anime/gamer fans who are exposed to this more often. If they end up promoting this properly, this concept has potential to be huge money makers. Especially if they expand on the AI counterparts and make merch, games, comics/webtoons etc.

So leaving aside the fact that it's a weird concept for K-POP fans since we aren't used to stuff like this, from a business perspective this is probably one of LSM's most genius ideas lol. It really just depends on how they promote it.

I think it was SHINee that had the most successful debut, Into The New World didn't become popular until after SNSD had already hit it big with Gee years later.
