I learned about it in school (the name) but I probably would have forgotten the name/date if I hadn’t travelled to Russia during VE Day one year.

Short for victory in Europe day. It celebrates the end of the European front of WW2. In some countries it’s a relatively big holiday. I’m pretty sure no US states celebrate it (one does celebrate VJ Day which is victory over Japan day).

Oh wait now I remember this from world history in 10th grade

yeah tbh as a non European I don’t rlly care abt celebrating but I’m glad I’m not born in wwii if it didn’t end and kept going till today

The US isn’t as big on WW2 as some countries and didn’t directly face as much European conflict I’m pretty sure so that’s understandable, especially compared to certain European countries.

I am desensitized being born after a great many events unfortunately like 9/11

I’m glad I wasn’t born in it but as it’s not part of my lifetime and I’m not European wouldn’t celebrate
