I went to my pharmacy to pick up my meds (for the second time in 2 days) and when I got home and opened the medication I noticed the bottle was smaller than the previous time when I picked up the exact same medication. So I counted them and there were 30 capsules. It was supposed to last 30 days and I take 3 of them a day. I checked the bottle and sure enough the place where they write how many capsules it was said 90, so I had to call the pharmacy and go back and get the rest (for the 3rd time in 2 days now)

Yep. I've also had an incident where the medication prescribed and the medication dispensed were completely different, which is dangerous af.

Honestly it scared the crap out of me, to the point that I actually use an online resource now to match the pills to the drug name to be sure what is on the label is in the bottle and is indeed what my doctor prescribed.

How did you realize the first time? Did it say on the bottle the name properly or did you just happen to know what the pills looked like?

i don't think pharmacists don't count pills where i live, or maybe in some rare cases they do idk. usually they just give you pre-dosed blister packs so i've never had to deal with this

It was a prescription that I had gotten before, and the bottle had the right name and pill description, but the pills inside looked wrong. I used this pill identifier to double-check what it was, and that confirmed it was a completely different medication. Now any time I get a pill that is unfamiliar, I check it. Even if it's just a different manufacturer of a medication I've gotten before, I check.

If you have a lot of prescriptions, it helps. Idk how worldwide their database is, but it has been great for me. Also works when you find a random pill somewhere in your house and go, "What the heck is this?"

I actually really like that site, they have a medication interaction checker, too. Obviously can't be used in place of a pharmacist's knowledge, but it's good to have.

yea i have got far different looking meds from different manufactures.

Most recently I had one that was an orange, round pill. Picked up a refill and the new one was a yellow pentagon. It's amazing how much they can vary depending on who makes it.

its crazy, let alone i remember different names for the generics. but at least they have said what it was a generic of which helps.

bottle size is weird too with so much automation, sometimes ill get 6 in high bottles for 180 small tablets. That throws a flag also that i have to check out.

Oh the lovely struggles of being chronically medicated. Istg you almost have to have a manual for dealing with pharmacies.

@Vikki @LeeHoseok this is why I use pill packs. lol The pharmacy sorts all my meds into different compartments, and on the cover of the pack is a list of the meds and when I should take them.

Actually, come to think about it that might not exactly be related to what we're talking about... I should probably go to bed anyway, it's like 11pm here. lol
