Has your interests shifted towards ggs or bgs compared when u got into kpop? Or stayed about same? (1 Viewer)

I have been always into both bgs and ggs music, but when I got into kpop I was definitely more interested towards bgs. Maybe it was the attraction factor for me, being straight teenage girl and all xd So while I liked and listened SNSD and BEG among other ggs, I still got into Big Bang, and then 2PM, LedApple, NU'EST, B.A.P etc. even before really getting into 2NE1 that was first gg that I was into, not only the music, but also the members. I got into some ggs after that, but I think bgs still dominated my interest for some time.

Nowadays I think I'm more interested of ggs. There is of course Big Bang who remains my ult group and that won't change, and I still have appreciation towards bgs I used to stan and still in some level do although I don't keep up with them. But still apart from BB, especially music wise I'm into Blackpink, Red Velvet, I'm interested of G-IDLE and Mamamoo, IU remains my favorite soloist and I cannot wait until f(x) has comeback. When it comes to new groups, I don't really find myself interested of checking out new boy groups as I find checking new girl groups.

So my interests have shifted from bgs to ggs quite clearly even if I'm not stricly either bg or gg stan.

I wasn't attracted to bgs, but I was at that time when I only liked the hard-hitting kind of music, which is what boy groups tended to do in 2013. I liked some girl groups but only those with a particular sound.

Over time I grew up and expanded my music tastes so I really like girl groups now.

I guess it's more balanced now, 50/50, I still like boy groups the same.

Also, I grew to REALLY love soloists.

I’ve always liked girl groups more tbh and that hasn’t changed. Not that boygroupd are bad but I find that girl groups have music more suited to my taste and I was never against the cuter concepts.

when I got into kpop I was really only interested in BG's. I've progressively gotten into GG's more with most of my top groups being GG's instead of BG's.

I think overall i'm pretty evened out between them but I've definitely developed a girl group leaning

Yeah, in 2013 I can't remember being into any soloists. They didn't have any visibility internationally.

I guess I just never bothered to look, but now that I have, there's sooo much talent outside of the idol scene as well. I wish more people knew the soloists I like so I could talk about them more : D

yes, I was og into Twice, and Gfriend, but BTS just trumped everyone.

that's still how I feel now, but not in a drastic way.

Mine shifted from BGs to GGs.

When I started out I was focused on guy groups pretty heavily while still enjoying girl groups. But a lot of the guy groups I stanned either disbanded because they weren't popular enough, or their style and sound changed to something I didn't like and I wound up enjoying girl groups music a lot more. Now I stan about like 5 guy groups(?) and too many girl groups to actually keep track.

I was 100% into ggs when I started, and I barely even gave bgs a chance. Now I'm more open to listening to bgs every once in a while, but I'm still strongly in the gg corner and that probably won't change.

Yup, that's bit problem in kpop forums for me as well, there just isn't as much interests towards soloist and discussions about them so although there is quite many soloist I like I just don't end up talking about them. Like IU is definitely one of my favorite idols and artists, but I don't really talk about her. Though it's also on me on not trying to make threads about soloists and so on ^^;

At the very beginning I was mainly into BG since I decided to listen Kpop thank to one of my friends recommendations and she adviced me SHInee and BigBang and right after I began to stan EXO but after that I discovered GG and now I am mainly listening to them. I am way more picky about BG music. I could do a top 30 of my favorite GG but for BG, I only really care about EXO, BigBang, BTS, SHInee and Seventeen.

lol yeah, i just like they sound bg's tend to produce more. whether its up beat or mellow its go a differet style than gg's.

I do get into newer bg's i love quite a few 3rd gen groups, but my ults are two 1st gens and one 2nd gen so its where my heart really is xD

Yea i was just thinking cause I I like lot of 2nd gen boy groups, but have hard time with 3gen and especially newer boy groups ^^

I got into BGs first, even as a straight male coz their sound was generally more hard hitting and similar to western music so the transition wasn't as jarring. I still liked SNSD but it was mostly BigBang, SHINEE, Suju for me at first.
Since then I've definitely become more of a GG stan and am on my way to becoming almost 100% GG trash lol.

They can just pull off a wider range of sounds, concepts, are more fun to watch on varieties and of course the visuals

Started off GG, still GG, lol. I find it hard to get into most K-Pop BGs tbh. Through all the years I've been in K-Pop, I've only been into four -- TVXQ, Shinee, EXO, and BTS.

GGs, however, I love to the point of lacking standards 😂😅. Come to me, GGs! (I just don't have the time to fan/stan them all, but I am an expert casual fan )

I typically like soloists if I knew them from a group beforehand (not counting BoA, who I got into b/c of her JPop works). I'm growing more into soloists, though -- mostly female.
