I thought of it after reading about Days cat thankfully I never had to go through that pain as I've never had a pet, i adore animals though so the idea of being best friends with one for a long time and then suddenly losing it would be just torturous for me, I love the idea of having a pet but I am scared of the time when it will pass away

I lost a cat 5 years ago. Also not my cat, but my aunt has lost some, and it was saddening to me because i have met and interacted with those cats when we visited and such. Even now, one of them is only estimated to have a maximum of 2 months. I get how it can make it intimidating to get a pet though with that looming over you. I know I shouldn’t feel this way but sometimes I get a bit scared about my pets age, my dog is 5 and cat is 3. The average life expectancy for my dog is 9-13 years, and it feels like yesterday that we got her. So it sometimes scares me to think her life could be half over already. I don't regret that we got her, but that part is scary

2 of our cats fell from the bacony, but we got them back.
the first time we didnt even notice until our neighbor rang the bell and asked if we miss sth.
the 2nd time I saw it happening and ran after it. thank god he was so shocked that he didnt run away.

Ive lost our first toritoise when i was little but she was so little time with us i didnt grow a proper bond with her. She had been moved from slovenia to finland going thrue germany and sweden before she got to the store we got her from. It was too much for her and she was really ill and died.

Second pet ive lost was my first dog. She died 7 years ago. I still tear up if i start thinking about her. She was an therapy dog by nature without being one. She just knew how to help me thrue anxiety attacks. For example if i was taking her for a walk and i got an anxiety attack she knew to take my hand gently in her mouth and take me back home. I believe she was part of the reason im still alive today.

I also had a plant named luhan and that dramatic son of a bitch died while i was moving during winter and bitch couldnt handle cold. Dramatic and needy is what that one was

Lost my pup last May. It was the hardest and it still hurts. He was always healthy and didnt have any pre existing conditions until suddenly his body was rapidly shutting down and he could have had an autoimmune disease. At the time the focus was just trying to get his body stable before properly diagnosing him. But then the medication's negative effects caught up and he was DKA on top of the potential autoimmune disease.

He would have ups and downs for 4-5 weeks until his condition kept getting worse. The last 3 hours of his life I realized I was being selfish and he was hurting so I had to let him go get his wings. It still hurts really bad but he's not hurting anymore. After everything there were so many "what ifs" and questions and people kept telling me I should take legal action against the specialist. But it doesnt bring him back you know. I just want my baby. And he was a baby. He was only 4 and half. He would have been 5 last December.

So many people helped me during and Day and Exi really helped me cope after losing him.

yes my cat i had from middle school to high school he was my best buddy. he came from
an abandoned litter a stray had near our house but he grew up to be a BIG BOY. absolute unit, he was massive. every time id come home from school id hear his meows behind the door waiting for me. his 3am zoomies of busting through my door doing a backflip off my bed and running back out. when he'd sit on a tall enough space, id tap my chest and he'd stand up to hug me, he was crazy he was the best

when i went away for college he stayed w my mom bc my dorm/apt didnt allow pets for the students. and when i visit home hearing them meows behind the door waiting for me and getting to see him was the best thing ever. one time i came home and it was like my mom was stalling me by the door and im like "ok i need to see my boy let me inside 🤨" and thats when she broke the news to me that he suddenly passed away. i think it was like two weeks before i came home. im still pissed she waited to tell me until i got home. i had no idea what happened and i still dont, from what my mom says not even the vets knew what happened and it was sudden ? unless she kept something else from me. it is utterly devastating being kept on the dark of what happened and not even being around during his final times. he was only about 6 years old. im about to cry in a randalls right now thinking about him, i miss him so much.

I lost quite a few pets in the past, because we always had pets in my family. Since my early childhood we lost four dogs, two cats, six guinea pigs, two rabbits, eight budgies. Fortunately most of them died of old age. I have no pet atm.
My brother has a farm. There are a bunch of animals.

Many. Often due to my parents' incompetence. I think losing my childhood dog back in 2019 has closed me off from animals emotionally. I don't like being around them anymore

Yes a few dogs. one a collie went to 'live on a farm' when we we young.
a poodle who was ostensibly one of my younger sisters gift but ya know how that is. He got to the point that he couldn't see couldn't walk.
since then none for me but my youngest sister is on her 4th. 1 & 3 both got horribly ill (jasmine was a pound puppy and snowball brain tumor) barely made a year.
