in real life, I mean.

Yes, I've definitely been bullied before. I'm a special needs woman (feel free to look it up - CHARGE syndrome), and in school, kids would pick on me for more things than y'all realize:
-my short stature (this is why my user title is what it is - it's a phrase I wish I'd learned years ago so I could clap back with it)
-my eyes (I used to get called Popeye bc my right eye is way bigger than my left, and they'd even parodize the theme song to taunt me)
-my crooked smile (mainly in elementary school, but I sometimes got bullied for it in middle school, too)
-my facial palsy (until I had my facelift in high school)
-my voice (lots and lots of mockery was involved)
-and finally, my obsessions (it didn't matter what I was fixated on, they always found a way to bully me for it)

wbu guys?

To answer the question: if I really think about it, then yes, but I have a very limited ability to hold grudges, so none of the childhood bullies have stuck in my mind.

My family is meaner to me anyway, tbh. :|

I was the only Asian (let alone Chinese) student at my primary (elementary) school - enough said

however I will say though that the bullying made be more resilient and resilience is one of the traits that I strongly value

I was bullied in elementary. Reasons given to me being because of the way i look, me being only friends with girls, me having high ''girly'' voice back then and being very theatrical, loud, atenttion seeking type of boy. I got beaten, my stuff stolen and thrown into the trash/toilet and overall torment.

yeah... by teachers :wimwim: nothing comparable to what you went through though, they were just mean spirited people and so were certain students but it's not like they picked me as their victim because they treated everyone like shit equally.

Of course I was, but not to the extent you were, I figure
I left choir, didn't have friends, and mostly isolated myself throughout high school because of it
I'm also bullied by my family and constantly disrespected by them

So sorry you went through that. No one deserves to be treated this way, especially as a kid.

To answer your question, yes, and I feel the consequences of that every single minute of my adult life because I have persisting trauma derived from it. The cause of the bullying originated from the fact that my mom worked as a secretary in the same school I studied in in middle school - my classmates knew this and because I had the best grades in the class, they were adamant that it was somehow my mom's influence. So they started excluding me from their friend groups, ignoring me, calling me a nerd/bootlicker, laugh at me when I walked in class, making fun of my clothes/appearance or anything I did etc. That caused me to simply stop participating in class (I used to do that all the time because I was genuinely interested) and to take refuge in my mom's and secretary's office during school breaks because I didn't want to be around them. Which made the bullying worse because they would also call me things like weirdo and loner. Made me go from someone who loved school and learning to hating it and dreading waking up to go. I ended up changing schools for high school but those 3 years traumatized me so much that I was never the same, and I have tendencies to isolate myself.

I managed to slightly overcome this trauma when I went to uni and moved to a different, bigger city and met other people. But the bullying and the trauma I suffered (and especially how I blamed myself for everything) caused me to struggle with self-confidence and have trust issues to this day.

I used to think one day in the future I would become a completely different person and finally leave these bad experiences behind, but growing up and in my 20s I realized I never really will because it happened at a very crucial time of my life (teenage years). But instead of lamenting myself over this, I chose to accept it and treat these traumas as scars, marks of hard times that I went through and reminding me that I'm strong for overcoming them and still managing to live a good life.

I hope you can also find peace with what happened to you and be proud of yourself for not only going through it but also sharing this with us. Big hug to you and to everyone here who share their experience.
