waved at someone only to realize they were the wrong person? or... you saw someone waving and thought they were waving at you but turns out they were waving to someone else so you just embarrassed yourself?

the first one happened to me today. i thought it was my friend in front of me in line but it was someone else

Of course. Most of my life I've been scared of waving at people I knew because what if they just looked like that person? And if someone waves at me I'm highly conflicted because usually I don't recognize them. So I very well might have waved at people who weren't waving at me. Sometimes I'm pretty certain they're waving at me (like that rando in the pharmacy one day, no one else was near us) but I still have not the slightest clue who they are

no, but I've answered to people who were calling my name only to find out they met somebody else. lol Stephanie was very common when I was born, so I get that a lot.

This clip is the perfect example of me being Peter Griffin, I think. Except for the huge crowd and the other person saying, "No, not you." Just a WTF expression was the response.
I believe I had this moment occur a few times when I was young.
