I am going to be cautiously optimistic though bc I think if executed well, this can really do the books justice. There are so many things the movies missed out on due to time and adaptation translations…

I'm not sure how I feel about a remake...The movies are just fine? They still look perfectly fine. I just don't think enough time has passed lol. I would have been more interested if it was a new story set in the same world, honestly.

On one hand this makes me so excited because as a kid this was always my dream (an actual HP tv series where they would be 100% faithful to the books), but on the other hand... it's hard to imagine someone else other than Alan Rickman playing Snape, or Dan as Harry, or Emma as Hermione... yeah, I'm also curious to see what she bringing to the table since the Fantastic Beasts films were… mediocre at best (at least the last two parts)
I also wonder if they stop producing Fantastic Beasts movies now? I remember that there were plans for five movies

Anyways, I agree that they have way more opportunities to adapt the books more faithfully now, if each book will be a 6-8 episodes show
and HBO MAX did a great job with The Last of Us, so I hope the project will be great

The movies are definitely still fine, especially since they came out in the early 2000
but I believe that they can do even better, especially with the recources they have today

Yeah best case scenario, the other executives and overheads can try to hold back her worst tendencies but we’ll see lol. I am nonetheless excited to see harry potter come to life visually again and hopefully good acting. The life the artists, editors, and actors breathed into the movies were the best parts and I will likely enjoy that here too. :>

i kinda love that cozy, old school feel the movies have though, at least the earlier ones; it's hard to replicate that in modern reboots they just tend to feel kind of.. soulless? so idk, i probably won't be tuning in but i hope it lives up to the fans' expectations

Eh I personally probably won’t watch them, pretty much everything to me about the movies is perfect. I get that there are new resources but constantly making remakes sort of gets rid of the magic for me personally. (No pun intended)

I don't understand why they have to remake the series, especially when it was only 13 years ago that the final film in the series came out. But hey, at least with a series they have the opportunity to expand on things that were or had to be cut for time, like Peeves.

I can't really imagine anyone else as the roles to be honest, Snape, McGonagall, the main three, Draco, Fred and George etcetc, they're all so iconic that it seems like it's going to be really difficult to find people that will capture the same magic that the original actors had. Snape, Draco and the twins especially. It seems like those four would be the ones that would very easily go from subtleties to caricatures in the wrong hands.

I probably won't watch it if I'm honest, but I hope they do the series justice.

If people were interested in a remake, I'd say it's waaay too soon.

But since they're bringing it back now... they could have made a show for something that the series didn't go too in depth about - the First War, Snape but more up close and personal, heck maybe even Hermione's experience as a Muggle-born. Could give a deep dive into these other magic schools around the world.

There are more stories to tell in the WW that they don't really have to just remake HP.
