I’ve seen people trying to normalize it in shows and movies….

the only thing closed to normalisation that I have ever seen was in the Vikings and I wouldn´t say they were trying to normalise it or glorify it, I think they were simply trying to show the ritual for what it was. people genuinely believed they would reach Valhalla if they sacrificed themselves. I wouldn´t say people felt totally okay with it even in those times, after all, we are all animals with instincts but if you do believe something so firmly to even sacrifice yourself than you are just out of normalcy. I think most people would be scared and think that person crazy but would never say so.

same with human sacrifices in Ancient Greece etc. it´s barbaric and viewed so by the majority but unfortunately since the world is built on power, most people would just be happy not to die themselves. I´m pretty sure once it hit home, they would at least try to fight the ordeal.

even though Game of Thrones went as far as sacrifice a child, the character (Stannis I believe?) was after that pretty much depicted as a crazy monster and was viewed as a true villain. btw, that scene was the most disturbing scene in the whole show along with the skinning of the elderly woman. damn, that was disgusting. but again, he wasn´t glorified, he was showed as a total madman.

Murder is murder. It gets news coverage here from time to time and increases anti immigrant sentiments. Doesnt really help when ppl try to justify it by their culture.

doesn't this happens in very conservative countries like Pakistan, where women have no rights, right? and usually victims are females because they think they are dirty or something, that's why they murder them? that's super fucked up on so many levels what the actual fuck

I didn't even know it exists until I searched it up few seconds ago. It's honestly so messed up and makes me sad, but also feel disappointed in humanity.
It's so heart-breaking we achieved so much and developed so advanced things, but still haven't abandoned the ancient mindset.
