This is from a book I am currently reading called Our Spiritual Evolution: Transcending the Third Dimension by Mark Gilbert.
“We create a culture of celebrity that holds up the beautiful and wealthy as ideal. The more we hear it, the more we believe this is what we are supposed to aspire to. If we are not as wealthy or as beautiful as the role models, again, something must be wrong with us…We need to let go of seeing ourselves as in a place of lack, not good enough, not worthy, and feeling shameful. We need to see our successes as not based on any comparison with others, but rather be driven to live the highest possible life we can live.”
