How would you rate your happiness or contentment with your life at this stage? Do you feel you are where you want to be or where you expected to be at this age? What accomplishments are you most proud of? What would you like to improve on?

I have a problem with spending money- I make a decent amount each month but I have nothing to show for it in terms of saving. I wanted to own a home at this point but I still rent. Hopefully as this year goes on, I will make better decisions in terms of saving $$$$ at the end of every month.

Idk, like a 6-7/10. There's enough stuff going right, I have a job that's stable and pays okay but it's boring with not much prospects for growth and I need to live in a city I'm not fond of. No personal stuff that's troubling me rn but I'm not exactly happy either coz I could and should be doing more. I also need to spend/invest my money more wisely.

But it could be a lot worse tbh, so I'm kinda okay with how things are too. So it's hard to say.

Probably not until July so just gotta go through with this until then

If I invested in a CD, would I also earn interest on it? That would be a good idea if I could get together some money in the first place. This town is so expensive- personal upkeep prevents me from putting anything in the bank. But I guess if I was forced to, that could keep me in line.

I believe you would gain interest on it. Back Home we used to be able to invest in something called a Christmas Club where you would put money away for Christmas that you couldn't touch. Not sure if that's something that they do in the banks in Santa Monica, but... that could be an option too if you didn't want to put hundreds away at a time.

I know how you feel though. Both my sister and my niece have worked as bartenders/waitresses most of their life with my sister making anywhere from 300-500 a night and she never saves... I cry, inwardly, at the amount of money she could have saved 🤣

I have a cash only second job that Uncle Sam doesn't know about- there is a the real issue. Because I have cash in my pocket, it's so easy to blow it on things that I don't even need. I have friends who are bartenders and they make a lot of $$$$ but then they go drink at the end of their shift and it's gone LOL.

Food alone here can be like $500-$600 a week if I'm buying something like sushi grade yellowfin. Sometimes I wanna pack up and move to Las Vegas but then I would lose everything gambling. RIP me.

The strip was nice. Even though I went there only once. I did have to put up with my idiot step-dad who thankfully is not my step-dad anymore... (Seriously, he went to the grocery store and there was a slot machine and he blew $800.00 in one sitting.) But it was a change from living in a 15k population town to a huge city. I probably would have liked it more if I didn't have to contend with so many issues..

Edit: I probably should note that I trend towards the lower bounds when I am dealing with deadlines and if I neglect certain things (i.e. work) I tend to get stressed a lot easier, so there's that.

From the outside reading this, it sounds like more than a 5 but you feel you have a longer way to go. Moving to a completely different country on your own to start a new life is very brave. Not many people have the courage to do that. :llama_lovely:

I didn't want to say it but that's what I was thinking. We're always way harder on ourselves I think. You're totally welcome btw- doing what you did shows real strength to me. People rarely will get out of their comfort zones and you just picked up and settled down in a foreign country. WOW, I mean that's a HUGE deal.

I hope you get to feeling a 7 or 8 really soon. You deserve it for what you've done already. I know I couldn't!

I'm not very happy. I have a lot to improve on considering how much I’ve been put at a standstill for the most part in school in this past year due to some events that have happened irl. I didn’t really have expectations for myself at this age, just getting good grades I guess. I’m still in AP classes so I guess that’s something. I’m still trying to work towards a spot where I can feel accomplished or happy with myself and what I’ve done.

AP classes is something to be proud of though, don't forget that. It's a lot of work but obviously you were qualified to take it on. I hope you get to a point where you feel better about things- it takes time and effort and isn't always easy.

Be kind to yourself in the meantime though- really try to do that.
