i have been through many music subgenre phases and hyperfixations in kpop roughly in order, i used to listen to "christian horse girl" music, then bubblegum, then i was big into ballads for a year or two, then k-indie, then korean rock, then korean city pop, then hyperpop, and then rnb/jazz/soul and the like. my newest obsession is uk garage and adjacent/similar genres there's more, but you get the gist !! now i find myself enjoying a variety of "christian horse girl"/bubblegum/hyperpop/city pop/rnb mainly, though i enjoy music from all genres

so how about you ?? how has your musical taste evolved over time ??

so first it was just listening to whatever was on the radio mostly pop hits, then i started getting into older music 90s to 2000s and i got into kpopand stuck with that for a while, then i startes venturing out to my own taste which was songs like billie eilish's? then rap for a while (still currently listen to), i got into emo, alternative, and soft rock (i still listen to). I'm now currently finding a bunch of japanese rock, like all of vkei
but i mainly listen to rap and rock

2004-2008: Slowcore, math-rock, post-rock (the intersection of all three - still my favourite type of music)
2008-2010: Glitch, drum-n-bass, dub
2010-2012: Pop music (including k-pop)
2012-2016: I don't have any memories
2016-2023: Hip-hop, k-pop more seriously, j-pop
2023-now: Afrobeats

"christian horse girl" music is kind of just a meme term for a kind of genre/concept that is harder to define, but that a lot of girl groups do/used to do i found a definition that says "A very tasteful, traditional sub-genre of Kpop that typically evokes the feeling of being a free, Christian Princess in the field riding her horse." though really it mostly is used to describe innocent, pure concepts !! think early apink, or gfriend with their "powerful innocence" concept !! there's typically large classical/orchestral elements and influences, and passionate, heartfelt lyrics and vocals !! for the newer generation, csr and ily:1 pull it off really well !! sorry if that was a lot of info !!

and i am really enjoying reading everyone's responses !! there are some genres i've never even heard of before !! may i ask you then what math-rock is ??

Some Stray Kids songs have odd-timing! Cheese and Side-Effects for example.
I think most k-pop fans don't like it lollol

Also there's been at least three j-pop groups that have been heavily math-rock influenced!

If I understand the Christian Horse Girl concept correctly, I think the pipeline from metal is strengthened by symphonic elements

it's always been all over the places, I think my ult being f(x) reflects that but I think I've gotten a lot more into indie in general

when i was young my music taste consisted of pop songs on the radio, as well as old 80-90s rnb that my mother used to listen to. then, it eventually evolved into kpop, specifically bts, and this is when my music taste truly started to change. after only listening to bts and a few tt songs (brooklynn blood pop....) it started evolving into other groups, like txt and stray kids and twice. i ach thought i woould stan bts forever but i eventually got bored and unstanned in 2022-2023. but i specifically got stuck on p1h and txt and still stan them today. after that i explored w other music tastes, mainly slow songs or love songs that were popular on the internet. then i started finding other obscure music by myself, and i started listening to music in other language such as spanish and japanese. now i rlly listen to anything, but this year ive been introduced to more rock and metal as well as musical songs such as korn, slipknot, heathers, and be more chill.
