For me ending is everything, bad endings have ruined shows for me. I have hard time to recommend a show if i know the ending sucks. There is many shows i have loved until the ending and after that i have just seen them as ok shows

I think the ending is important. For example, if an ending is kind of half-assed then I feel like I wasted my time watching or reading a series

There are many shows I have watched that have been cancelled on a cliffhanger that I still enjoy thoroughly.. but some shows can get ruined by an inadequate ending or even an inadequate direction.. For instance, look at Pretty Little Liars. We could also talk about how the perfectionists was cancelled after a season, but I digress.. But other shows like Shadowhunters or Witches of East End can be rewatched endlessly even though they were cancelled on a cliffhanger. It all depends.

Was there an earlier period for which the show could have ended where I could use as a line of demarcation? For instance, one could watch the first five seasons of Buffy and choose that that is their preferred ending as Joss had thought that they wouldn't get renewed after season 5...

There are anime for which I feel that I cannot continue to watch if one of the main characters becomes excessively cringe worthy.. Like a female character who remains hopelessly obsessed with another character who has proven to be the scum of the earth... lol. But for cancelled series; series that I used to like, but I have since hated the direction of the series I will often read a fanfiction given that someone has written one.. And trust me.. There are plenty of people who have written a fanfiction that in length is the equivalent to a 800+ page book. lol

It's important, but ultimately it doesn't mess up a story for me. If an ending of a series I loved is truly atrocious, then I usually just read fan theories/cannons and accept those as the actual ending lol

I think the ending of a story is usually the most important part as it's the last impression it will make on you and if it's bad then that's all you are going to think about like how Game of Thrones is only really thought of now because its ending was bad.

Vital. If a book has a sad ending, I won't bother reading it. Actually, I have a history of glancing at the backs of books to see the ending first before I read them. lol

Endings can suck, like how I met your mother, but for me personally it doesn't take away too much from the overall show. HIMYM is still one of my favorite shows.

If theres like only one movie or one season I hope that the ending would complete the story, if it has more installments then i dont mind cliff hangers and such etc
