How many members does a group need to have, for them to compensate 3 members missing? (1 Viewer)

It depends on how much material the group has. If the group has more than 40 songs to choose from, they can select their setlist based on the members who are there, preferably at least 3-4. If they're a newer group, they'd have to rearrange the songs for the members who are there, preferably 6-7. So, older groups can have as few as 6-7 members, and newer groups require 9-10.

They debut with 10 members.
Then after the second cb 3 members ( Mirae, Kokoro, LinLin) 2 minors from out of country and the leader started missing events.
Eventually they were gone. ( the 2 younger girls are now on survival programs in native country, and Mirae was in another group ( that i think has already crashed...)

Another big group is WJSN og 12 then 13 after pd 101 , then back to 10 now smaller.
Loosing all 3 Chinese members didnt kill the shows ( and that is easier to explain ) but it still was a bit off.

You as a twice stan saw events/concerts with 8.
Snsd did some events/concerts ie kcons as 8 (members out for acting) and some with 7. not sure i ever saw a 6 for a concert like event.

The hard thing is actually canceling the show is almost as painful as watching a group without members

lets say i went to Korea again for a red velvet show but Wendy/Seulgi (pick any 2 these are main/main so ouch) were out i think seeing just the 3 trying to do it would hurt as much as losing the 4k i spent on the trip.

Yeonjung was added after she came in 11th in PD 101. And they featured her pretty heavily.

10 is the official number but many of those are doing solo deals with other companies. So who knows if the 10 will ever preform together again.

Well the C line was a different company (yeuhua Yena and everglows company)
Yeuhua wanted the two of em in PD 1010 China no questions. They came in 1,2 and stayed in china since.
Chen Xiao was mentoring shows and other solo work.

It's similar situation to SNSD OT8, Mamamoo, n blackpink-maybe a few others, EXO n big bang(?).

WJSN theorically would hv 10 member group comeback/promo, but luda n dawon individual activities would be outside control of starship. Apink tried but naeun under YG I think officially left Apink when schedules dint align with her acting jobs for comeback. In practice I fear this but apink naeun is in another stratosphere compared to luda n dawon so it might be more realistic to align comeback schedules with solo/individual activities. Or wjsn just makes another sub-unit with just yeoreum, dayoung n soobin or add yeonjung.or mix up remaining members in different sub units.

LOONA before 2023 had at least 1 member missing from some concerts during World tour in 2022, they only had 11 members active during tat tour so sometimes it was 10(I can't rmbr if more participate in any leg of their tour).I think one stop in South America the elevation/air pressure was particularlytuf.but I don't rmbr the details.

Red velvets Singapore stop was missing joy due to her being ill, but everyone sympathised n I dint notice if any complaints came up.i missed it as I was busy/cash Poor.

So it rlly depends but missing 3 members is a stroke of bad luck n quite rare I think.usual is only 1 missing n the concert goes on.idk if loona when they had 11 ever had 3 missing in one stop.

Yeah Chuu did not take part in the tour and many members got hurt / sick... I'm not sure what was the highest amount of members missing at one stop, put if you include Chuu, I think there were stops with 3 members missing That tour was a crazy mess..

No, that's the total members in the group so that vocal parts can be covered when members are missing.
