you're saying dispatch is in hybe's back pocket? hmmm....lol

well I meant based on this since they were children at the beginning

none of the members of NJ could have signed their initial contracts by themselves and 2 of them are still children by SK standards no? and the other reason I mentioned their parents is that MHJ referred to their parents in her allegations (again not sure whether it's true or not)
But the contracts would have been signed with HYBE/Source/ADOR (delete as applicable, I dunno). The dispute between HYBE and MHJ does not have any bearing on those contracts or vice versa. If HYBE gets their way, MHJ is terminated, a new CEO for Ador is appointed, and everything trucks along as normal. There's no reason for NewJeans (or their parents) to be involved in this process at all, and they haven't gotten involved so far.

Of course, if they want to be really entertaining, they'll try and break out of their contracts.

that is the unknown right...do they want out of their contracts and follow their second mother MHJ or will they remain in Hybe/ador...
also it will be very relevant whose contract NJ are under since if they were under Ador then could Ador not just cancel/terminate their contracts legally??? since the two parties to the contracts are Ador and NJ member/parent??? that's one of the arguments I've seen raised...

I mean that's one potential way MHJ "wins" this battle right? terminate the NJ contracts (for whatever reason) and have NJ redebut in her own company

That would be a s storm. Since Hybe owns 80% of ADOR the assets are totally linked to the companys value.
that would be like giving your Property to someone just before teh divorce went final.... not gonna fly.
they many never work again. tie it up in court for decades.

Right, I think one of those "leaked to the press" articles suggested that there was a plan that NewJeans would terminate their contract with cause and then they would rejoin MHJ's new agency.

I'm not sure how true that is, though.
Firstly, what we know about MHJ's contractual situation, this is impossible. This is part of the dispute! From my understanding, there is a subset of her shares in HYBE that she cannot sell without permission, but her non-compete period only ends until one year after she has divested all her stocks. So they can prevent MHJ from ever working in the industry again. This is the reason, she says, that she was taking legal advice. I think HYBE have claimed (I don't have a source for this) that they'll give her permission to sell, and it's more about preventing her from tanking the price with an at-once selloff (IE, they would stipulate a slow selloff), but who knows what the truth is?
Secondly, what would the "cause" be? The rumour was that they would claim mistreatment due to inadequate promotions and support and whatnot but.. Like, that is not an argument they could ever make.

I strongly suspect that HYBE fed a bunch of misinformation to the press at the start of this whole saga, and this whole "she was going to get NewJeans to terminate their contract" is part of it. But I could very well be wrong!

Really, I don't know what "winning" looks like for MHJ. She herself acknowledges that ADOR getting independence is impossible. So, what even are her demands, really? It can't be to leave ADOR without her creation.

I dunno either my friends which is why everything is now basically radio silent from both Hybe and MHJ's end for the past week I think since they are probably both getting ready for court which is what most of us probably predicted it would end up but the journey has been fun at the very least (not that it's likely to stop lol) and it seems that none of us are on either Hybe's side or MHJ's side so to speak which is a good thing compared to say Twitter or ELSEWHERE lol

it's not whether we win or lose but the amount of company stans and MHJ shooters we met along the way lol

The problem is .
ya cant kiss and make up, trust is gone.
Someone crossed a bridge too far behind the scenes and then it went public.

Winning for her will be money. But she will have to start her own company if she wants back into the business as she burned SM and Hybe so good luck getting high profile backers.

the thing about the parents: haerin's mom specifically wanted haerin to audition for ador because it was the mhj gg as marketed

this I have no way of verifying, but in the presscon mhj did say that with sakura and chaewon announced into source, there was confusion whether or not her group would even debut, or if the current members she had in mind would be replaced by the opposing faction of source in pgngg team, and that hybe/source made no effort in contacting the girls or their parents and that she was the only link between the company and them

all that to say, if everything she said is true, it makes good sense why the parents would at least be inclined to follow mhj

the thing I'm most confused about is the sudden audit, specifically why it was launched, and why all the stories were being spread before it even concluded

Yea its like something happened behind the curtain. Can't have been trivial nj is coining money.
What would have worried them that desperately internally?
Hybe saw red flags and kicked off the audit.
And it all went to hell when teh auditors showed up.

Those are not good optics for mjh/ador. She can claim its a nothing burger but its a very public dust up that had no upside for any one.
So why would they do it?

there is no upside for her with that 5% stake holding her to ador so I wonder too
I doubt it was just the private bitching alone that would warrant a whole audit, but also it's odd that they would make it public before even concluding the audit unless they wanted to create a pr battle, which I suppose they succeeded in, although it backfired against them in korea which I agree with you on hybe likely kicking off all the leaked articles and such to muddy the waters and gain an advantage beforehand
she may be an excellent creative director but it seems like it was for the best that she never worked in the c suite like that before

"Ahead of the scheduled ADOR shareholders' meeting, ADOR employees suffered mistreatment and harassment from the illogical manner of investigation assumed by the HYBE auditing team, and so we would like to issue a statement.

Around 7 PM on May 9, after business hours, the HYBE auditing team began to interrogate a team leader of ADOR's style directing department. This interrogation persisted for over 5 hours until past midnight on May 10, and the auditors went so far as to follow the employee to their home to confiscate their laptop and private phone, encroaching into personal matters unrelated to business affairs. Furthermore, abusing the right to perform an audit, the auditors employed irrational tactics such as applying mental pressure, threatening that the employee 'would have to go to the police station if they did not cooperate'. Despite the fact that the employee made known her early work schedule the next day, the auditors continued to use interrogation methods involving pressure, interfering in business operations.

According to this employee, HYBE's auditing team problematized the employee contract between ADOR and the style directing team leader, claiming that 'there is clear evidence of professional malpractice and embezzlement in this contract; therefore a lawsuit will be filed' and pressuring the employee. However, the contract in question was one that followed the general conventions of this industry, and its contents were already shared with the HR and ER departments at HYBE in February of this year. HYBE auditors can access details to this contract without applying such brash interrogation tactics.

In the advertisement industry, labor such as hair, makeup, and styling is sourced from outside sources when carrying out shoots, and most of the time laborers sourced during these shoots are freelancers, who sign contracts with the advertiser.
At ADOR, when NewJeans carried out advertisement shoots, labor such as styling was sourced internally rather than from outside sources. There are less risks to using house employees for such work, permitting a consistence in the quality of styling, and they can also respond with flexibility when sudden schedule changes occur, while also assisting with protecting the privacy of the artists. During these occasions, our house employees received payments for their labor from the advertiser, and when these employees also met their incentive goals, ADOR made sure to consider these external payments.

In 2023, during a calculation of performance related pay to be distributed, ADOR determined that there were too many advertisement deals, not to mention an increase in other affairs outside of advertisements, making it difficult for the house employees to handle all styling jobs for advertisements. Beginning in 2024, ADOR completed negotiations for the styling to be sourced from outside sources for advertisement shoots. This change was reported to HYBE's HR and ER departments in February of this year. What HYBE wishes to problematize here is the amount that this employee received from the advertiser through a freelancer contract, a payment they received instead of an incentive payment. This payment does not affect ADOR in any way, and cannot be evidence of embezzlement."

ADOR went on to claim that HYBE's auditing team was "interfering in business, imposing pressure, and invading employees' privacy" in order to find any trace of faults in ADOR's operations.

According to ADOR, the employee who was subject to over 5 hours of interrogation is considering filing a lawsuit against HYBE for forcing them to agree access to their private information and threatening.

As tensions between two entertainment powerhouses, HYBE and ADOR, continue to escalate, the latest development has brought aespa's Winter and her father into the spotlight. Against the backdrop of a brewing dispute between the two companies, Winter's father's supportive message, seemingly aimed at Bang Si Hyuk, has captured the attention of fans and industry observers alike.

The drama unfolded on 9 May when Winter, one of the members of aespa, shared a heartfelt exchange with her fans on the Bubble chat platform, a popular interaction tool used by K-pop idols. In her message, Winter subtly referred to a controversial remark allegedly made by Bang Si Hyuk, the head of HYBE Corporation, which sparked significant controversy within the K-pop community. Winter recounted a moment on Instagram where she expressed feeling overwhelmed, prompting her brother to offer reassurance that he would handle everything for her. Winter then shared a message from her father, which resonated deeply with fans due to its apparent allusion to past comments made by Bang Si Hyuk regarding aespa.

Winter's father's message, in which he vowed to "crush them all" for his daughter, seemed to strike a chord with fans. Many interpreted it as a direct response to Bang Si Hyuk's use of the term "crush" in reference to aespa, as revealed by ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin during a highly charged press conference earlier in April.

While the controversy surrounding Winter's father's statement continues to simmer, aespa is preparing to make a triumphant return to the music scene with their first full-length album, Armageddon. Since their debut in November 2020 with the single 'Black Mamba', aespa has been pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation in the K-pop industry. Comprising four talented members – Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning – aespa has captivated audiences worldwide with their unique blend of music and groundbreaking concepts.

SM Entertainment, aespa's agency, announced the upcoming release of Armageddon in April 2024, generating immense excitement among fans. The album, set to drop on May 27, features two highly anticipated title tracks, 'Supernova' and 'Armageddon'. 'Supernova' is scheduled for a pre-release on May 13.

damn meat drama is back on the menu boys!!!

We would like to inform you that the audit, of a team leader of ADOR, conducted by our audit team on the evening of the 9th, was conducted legally, with the consent of the auditee, in a non-coercive atmosphere.

We would like to clearly explain CEO Min Hee-jin's false claims as follows.

▲ Regarding the claim that the audit lasted from 7 p.m. until past midnight.

The team leader came to work at the company yesterday at 6 PM. The audit began when she was contacted by the audit team while commuting to work, and the team leader responded that she would respond to the audit starting at 7 p.m.

▲ Regarding the claim that we followed a female member to her home late at night after 10 p.m. and forced her to do so.

During the audit, the team leader acknowledged that she had received hundreds of millions of won worth of money and valuables from an outsourcing company over several years with the approval of CEO Min Hee-jin. She then expressed her intention to submit her laptop, which she had left at home, to the company. Accordingly, with her consent, only our female employees accompanied her into her home where she returned her laptop.

▲ Regarding the claim that consent to the use of personal information was forced

The team leader, who was being audited, agreed to the use of personal information, expressed her intention to cooperate, and even submitted her laptop herself.

▲ Regarding the claim that we requested the submission of her cell phone, which was a personal asset.

CEO Min Hee-jin and some members of ADOR have not used the company's official work messenger at all and have conducted all business conversations exclusively through their personal KakaoTalk. Accordingly, we requested to submit the data stored on the mobile phone, but the team leader did not answer the questions, so the Hybe audit team did not request further submission.

▲ In response to claims that it is a common practice in the advertising industry and that embezzlement cannot be established

There is no practice in which a company's full-time employees directly profit hundreds of millions of won from advertisers. The fact that the amount that should be recognized as the company's sales was passed privately and the CEO knowingly tolerated this for several years is not an ethical practice, but a clear breach of laws. Moreover, as a CEO, CEO Min has not taken any follow-up measures, such as recovery or punishment for illegally received amounts. We hope that the direction of the hundreds of millions of won worth of unfair profits received by the team leader will be clearly revealed during the future investigation.

We are disclosing part of the conversation between CEO Min Hee-jin and ADOR management related to this matter, which was confirmed during the audit process, as an appendix below.

CEO Min is very aware that a large amount of money was received with her connivance. When Hybe's HR inquired about the matter, CEO Min treated it like it was no big deal, even though she knew the seriousness of the matter.

We express our strong disappointment to CEO Min, who once again attempted to mislead the public by issuing a statement based on false facts. This is serious defamation of the company.

We also express strong regret for not protecting the team leader in question, but instead identifying the individual and announcing it to the media. This audit was conducted on ADOR's employees, not executives, and Hybe had no plans to disclose this matter to the media. However, when CEO Min issued a statement, the entire nation became aware of the fact that the employees were being audited. If CEO Min had any intention of protecting his employees as a boss, she should not have done this.

We would like to inform you that we will take all possible civil and criminal measures in this case.

Messy.

Here's my question. HYBE says the employee wanted to submit her laptop to the auditors. Okay. So what was the rush? Why did the auditor(s) need to follow her to her home right there and then? Why did they need to go INTO her home?
Why not just have her bring the laptop the next day? Or have her go, unaccompanied, to get it?

The only reason I can think of is that they thought she'd tamper with it before submitting it. But according to them, she's the one that volunteered to submit it in the first place. Presumably they didn't even know about that laptop before she told them.

Are they really so naive as to believe that an employee would not feel pressured to divulge anything being asked of them by company auditors?

Is it also their position that MHJ let this employee "embezzle" funds for no personal benefit to herself? After all, it would drag Ador's financials, and they're not claiming that MHJ herself benefited. What, she did it out of the goodness of her own heart, like a corporate Robin Hood?

Edit: Also, if this employee committed embezzlement, they're going to report her to the authorities, right? Instead of just making accusations about a crime to the media and then doing nothing about it?

they said the person with the laptop agreed - who knows why?

they are saying that MHJ had knowledge this occurred and thus drag MHJ into it

I guess the position is that MHJ brought this issue up in the first place and thus they had to respond to it - I don't know if they made a report to the police or not

I would have thought that HYBE has a fiduciary duty to their shareholders and therefore reporting a crime that affects their finances (as a shareholder of ADOR) is not optional. I also think they would say that they have handed the matter over to the authorities if they had. I think they'd have to disclose that at some point.

And yet, all we're getting is media sniping. Extremely suspicious. No part of their statement adds up imo.

The laptop is Company property given to the ee on an at will basis.

They are well within their rights to want it right now. If trust is gone its gone. companies are not the law they tend to think guilty until proven innocent.
HR exists to cover the company butt any benefit they give the ee's is pr gravy.

Heck most companies i worked for you are in trouble for forgetting your laptop at home period.

Remember every single thing on those electronic devices is company property. Employees have zero right to privacy. all the passwords logins ect are theirs. Now if the company does something illegal with them ie move personal funds ect then they can be charged.

Ah, for some reason I missed that it was a company laptop.
But:
1. That still does not give them the right to follow her into her home.
2. It makes their story all the more nonsensical: They said that she'd brought up the laptop and wanted to present it to them. What kind of half-assed auditors wouldn't immediately request the handing over of all equipment in the first instance?

NewJeans’ Parents Claim Bang Si Hyuk Would Purposely Ignore The NewJeans Members

NewJeans‘ parents have claimed through their legal counsel that Bang Si Hyuk would purposely ignore the members’ greetings.

In an exclusive report from Ilgan Sports, they obtained the email sent from ADOR on behalf of the NewJeans’ members’ parents to HYBE, detailing their suggestions and complaints regarding ILLIT‘s debut. The email was drafted by the parents and legal representatives of the NewJeans members.

One concern expressed in the email was that another group debuting under HYBE—revealed to be ILLIT—had many similarities with NewJeans within their concept. This included photography, styling, choreography, and music video aesthetics. They claimed HYBE’s reason for this was to imitate NewJeans for their new girl group and expressed their regret at another agency under the same parent company purposely planning a girl group with the same aesthetic just 20 months after NewJeans’ debut.

The parents also questioned Belift Lab‘s intentions, as they claimed the company did not properly check their content and even mocked NewJeans.

Is there no intention to protect NewJeans and each member’s brand value within HYBE?

The reason why these issues are not groundless is because there have been too many ridiculous situations.

The NewJeans’ parents have even claimed that Bang Si Hyuk would purposely ignore the members when they greeted him.

Whenever the NewJeans members encountered Bang Si Hyuk in the company building, we wondered why Bang Si Hyuk would pretend not to recognize the members and turn a blind eye to their greetings. At first, we didn’t believe our children, thinking, ‘Oh, he probably just didn’t recognize you then,’ so we attempted to verify this.

However, since this issue has happened several times, with different dates and locations, even when it was just Bang Si Hyuk and the members, we believe there is no other possibility except recognizing that they are, in fact, NewJeans.

The parents continued to explain that accepting someone’s greetings is just basic manners and expressed their anger towards the situation.

Even if you don’t recognize the NewJeans members, it’s just basic manners to accept someone’s greetings when they say hello first. Is that so difficult?

As parents, we were embarrassed and had nothing to say about this childish situation after hearing that it wasn’t just once or twice where they were deliberately avoided, but examples such as they were embarrassed that they were being ignored so they just stood in the elevator with blank expressions or noticing that he was pretending to not see them. They are just middle and high schoolers.

ADOR confirmed to media outlet Joy News24 that emails containing the above contents were indeed sent to HYBE.

Throughout this ordeal, NewJeans continues to promote, most recently confirming an appearance on KBS 2 Days & 1 Night. ADOR will hold another meeting on May 31.
