Which isn't really a win so much as "follow the standard protocol."

I get that people really liked their music but "makes good music" does not necessarily mean "is fairly and accurately representing a dispute in which they are totally 100% the victim." Even beloved celebrities can make bad decisions (or be bad people, ask UK about Jimmy Savile).
or Neil Gaiman...

somehow i missed one of the updates and got well behind. this thread.

To my knowledge the girls and mjh have yet to win other than that very first ruling that said that Ador needed to have a regular board meeting to fire mjh.
I think it's because originally it was my thread but something happened to it and it was merged with like a card or artist thread then the mods had to remake it

NewJeans Members Launch ‘NJZ’ SNS, ADOR Takes Legal Action

The ongoing dispute between NewJeans members and their agency, ADOR (subsidiary of HYBE), has further intensified as the group launched new social media accounts under the name ‘NJZ’—prompting ADOR to issue a firm response.

On February 27, NewJeans members announced via their personal Instagram that they had officially created X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and TikTok accounts under the new name NJZ. They also shared a teaser video featuring animal-shaped cookies representing the members’ initials.

On February 28, ADOR addressed the situation, stating:

“Our position remains that the exclusive contract is still valid, and we are awaiting legal judgment on the matter.”

The agency further elaborated that NewJeans already has official social media accounts, including TikTok and a YouTube channel, and any additional accounts created without prior consultation are in direct violation of their contract.

“Posting content or engaging in entertainment activities through unauthorized accounts violates the exclusive contract and may cause confusion among fans and advertisers. We urge them to refrain from such actions.”

NewJeans vs. ADOR: A Timeline of the Dispute

The feud began when NewJeans held an emergency press conference on November 28, 2023, declaring that ADOR had failed to address their concerns and announcing their decision to leave the company. The group claimed that their exclusive contract would be terminated as of November 29, 2024, and expressed their desire to continue working with former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin.

Since then, the members have pursued independent activities, including launching new social media accounts on December 14, 2023. In response, ADOR quickly filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court, seeking confirmation that the exclusive contract remains legally binding.

NewJeans to Perform as ‘NJZ’ in Hong Kong

Despite the ongoing legal battle, all five NewJeans members announced on February 7 that they would be performing under the name NJZ at ComplexCon Hong Kong in March—where they also plan to unveil new music.

ADOR, however, reaffirmed its legal stance on February 10, stating:

“NewJeans’ claim that their contract has been terminated is a one-sided assertion. We have filed a legal injunction to affirm ADOR’s management rights and are awaiting the court’s decision.”

As the legal battle unfolds, NewJeans’ independent activities continue to gain momentum, leaving fans wondering what’s next for both NJZ and ADOR.

New allegations escalate NJZ-Ador battle ahead of court hearing

Members' parents accuse label of 'misleading public' for not disclosing injunction expansion; Ador denies accusation
By Pyo Kyung-min
For those outside the K-pop fandom, the ongoing dispute between NJZ — formerly NewJeans — and its agency, Ador, under Hybe Labels, may feel like an endless saga.

However, a key turning point is approaching, as the first court hearing for Ador’s injunction request against NJZ members is set for Friday. The agency is seeking to block the group from pursuing activities independently, arguing that they remain under contract.

As the courtroom date draws near, tensions escalated once again on Thursday, with the parents of NJZ members accusing Ador of "obstructing NJZ’s occupational freedom," prompting the agency to issue a rebuttal the same day.

Through a newly opened independent Instagram account (@njz_pr), the parents of NJZ members published a statement reiterating their stance that the group is no longer bound by its contract with Ador.

“We notified Ador of the termination of our exclusive contract on Nov. 29, 2024, due to the agency’s failure to fulfill its contractual obligations. As a result, the contract has ended,” they wrote.

In a newly revealed development, the parents alleged that Ador expanded its injunction request in February to block more activities beyond what had been previously disclosed to the public.

“On Feb. 11, Ador modified its original injunction request, asking the court not only to prohibit NJZ from signing new advertising contracts but to ban all of its musical activities — including songwriting, composing, performing and singing — as well as any other related entertainment work,” the statement read.

The claim directly contradicted Ador’s previous statements, in which the agency had said that its injunction sought only to “maintain its management rights” and block NJZ from entering independent advertising deals.

NJZ’s parents accused Ador of misleading the public by not disclosing the injunction expansion in time.

“Until just a few days ago, Ador continued making statements about NJZ’s independent activities, yet it never disclosed that its legal filing aimed to prohibit all entertainment activities entirely,” the post read.

The post also alleged that Ador’s true motive is to suppress NJZ’s career while avoiding public backlash.

“On the surface, Ador claims to be contesting NJZ’s advertising activities to prevent confusion among fans and advertisers. But in reality, they are asking the court to ban NJZ from all entertainment activities," they wrote.

"This is a clear attempt to violate NJZ’s occupational freedom while concealing the full extent of its actions from the public to avoid criticism.”

Concluding the post, NJZ’s parents expressed hope that the court’s decision on the following day would affirm the group's contract termination.

“We want the court to once again confirm the legitimacy of our contract termination. We hope no artist has to endure the same unfair treatment that we have,” they stated.

Ador justifies expanded legal filing

Ador issued a rebuttal, sending a press statement just over an hour after the Instagram posts were uploaded.

The agency admitted its decision to expand the injunction request — albeit later than its previous disclosures regarding actions against NJZ — arguing that it was a necessary response to the group’s continued activities.

“As the injunction regarding management rights and advertising contracts is still pending, NewJeans has continued expanding its activities. Given these circumstances, we had no choice but to broaden our legal request,” the agency said.

Ador refuted allegations that it was attempting to block the five singers' careers outright, claiming, “This is not about restricting their activities — it’s about ensuring that they continue their entertainment career ‘with Ador’ and ‘in compliance with their contract.’”

Following Friday's hearing, the court is expected to decide on the injunction within a few weeks. The ruling will determine if the five NJZ members — Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein — can continue independent activities in the immediate future.

However, the dispute remains far from over.

A separate hearing scheduled for April 3 will address the lawsuit that could ultimately decide the validity of NJZ’s contract with Ador, meaning a temporary resolution to the high-stakes battle may still be weeks away.

NewJeans members' parents accuse ADOR of trying to block group's activities with injunction expansion

The ongoing dispute between the members of K-pop girl group NewJeans and agency ADOR has intensified as the singers' parents accused the company of attempting to block the group's activities by expanding the scope of its injunction request.

ADOR refuted the claim immediately, stating that the purpose of the expansion of its legal action was not to restrict activities but to ensure a framework for the two parties to work together.

On Thursday morning, a day before the first court hearing on ADOR’s request for an injunction to maintain its status as the group’s management company, a lengthy statement was posted on the Instagram account NJZ PR, run by the parents of NewJeans members. It claims that ADOR is attempting to interfere and take control of the group's activities.

“We notified ADOR on Nov. 29, 2024, that we were terminating the exclusive contracts with ADOR due to the agency’s failure to meet its obligations,” the statement read. “The contracts have terminated and ADOR no longer has the authority to manage or interfere with our activities.”

The group, now referring to itself as NJZ, claimed that ADOR had initially framed the injunction as being limited to advertising activities. However, they argued that the request also included a demand to recognize ADOR’s management rights over the group.

“This is not just about advertisements: it’s a broader attempt to block all of NJZ’s entertainment activities,” the statement said.

The statement also alleged that ADOR expanded its injunction request on Feb. 11 to prohibit NJZ from songwriting, composing music, performing and engaging in any music-related activities. This move, NJZ claimed, was made in retaliation after the group "successfully resisted pressure from Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of HYBE, to cancel its participation in a concert series."

“Until recently, ADOR continued to publicly acknowledge NJZ’s independent activities while simultaneously seeking a court order to ban them entirely,” the statement further read. “They present this as an issue of advertising rights or preventing confusion among fans and sponsors, but they are effectively asking the court to ban all of NJZ’s activities.”

The group also reiterated claims of enduring discrimination and unfair treatment within HYBE, arguing that the contract termination was just.

“We will seek legal confirmation that our contract termination was lawful and hope that no other artists will have to endure what we have faced,” the statement said.

In response, ADOR released its own statement defending its decision to expand the injunction request, arguing that it was a necessary measure.

“While the original injunction was pending, NewJeans proceeded with plans for new music releases and a major overseas performance,” ADOR said. “This left us no choice but to broaden our legal action.”

The agency denied allegations that it was attempting to prevent NewJeans from working independently out of retaliation.

“This is not about restricting their activities but about ensuring that they continue under ADOR and in accordance with their contract,” the agency stated. “We never exerted pressure on the event organizers, nor did we expand our legal request as an act of retaliation."

The agency concluded by saying it would clarify its position in court.

“We aim to resolve any misunderstandings and reaffirm that ADOR remains the rightful management company of NewJeans,” ADOR said.

Adore insists NewJeans activities not restricted, seeks court clarification

The group New Jeans (NJZ) members' side claimed that Adore is trying to restrict all their entertainment activities, and Adore's side has stated its position.

Adore said on the 6th, "Adore is in the process of a 'provisional injunction to maintain the agency's status and to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts.' Since New Jeans has expanded its activities by announcing a new song and previewing a large overseas performance, it has inevitably expanded the purpose of the injunction application."

The statement continued, "This is not intended to restrict activities but is meant to say that we want to engage in entertainment activities 'together with Adore' while 'keeping the contract.'" It emphasized, "As we have already publicly stated, we have never pressured the performance organizers, nor has the application purpose been expanded as a retaliatory measure."

Adore stated, "We want to clarify various misunderstandings about the artist in court tomorrow and seek a judgment that Adore is the agency for New Jeans, which numerous members have been waiting for."

Previously, the New Jeans members claimed through social media on the same day, "Adore requested on the 11th to expand the purpose of the injunction application to prohibit all music activities, including NJZ's lyrics, composition, performance, and singing, as well as all other ancillary activities."

Meanwhile, New Jeans declared the termination of its exclusive contract with Adore, announced its new team name NJZ last month, opened a new account, and previewed its appearance at the 'Complex Live' in Hong Kong.

The following is the full statement from Adore.

Adore stated, "Adore is in the process of a 'provisional injunction to maintain the agency's status and to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts.' Since New Jeans has expanded its activities by announcing a new song and previewing a large overseas performance, it has inevitably expanded the purpose of the injunction application."

This is not intended to restrict activities but is meant to say that we want to engage in entertainment activities 'together with Adore' while 'keeping the contract.'

As we have already publicly stated, we have never pressured the performance organizers, nor has the application purpose been expanded as a retaliatory measure.

Adore stated, "We want to clarify various misunderstandings about the artist in court tomorrow and seek a judgment that Adore is the agency for New Jeans, which numerous members have been waiting for."

today is D-day so we're gonna find out one way or another
there's either gonna be a lot of angry bunnies or angry hybe stans lol
Its not as hybe stan as i just do not think that
1. Any big company would have contracts that allow the artist to walk away baring criminal/craziness. ie even the girls in Maiden cant leave and the boss was flat hitting/assaulting on a girl( who did leave but the rest have to stay{forced to kiss among other things 9heck that dude in Spain? is going to jail for kiss a girl to celebrate winning the world cup...))
2. the clear an obvious attempt to steal the girls away by mjh, that continued far beyond the initial plotting at the start that got her fired.

3. one thing that could work is if they flat throw MJH under the bus and say she as agency head was abusing them personally. (basically what she really did .) The problem with that is Ador did replace her and the kids claimed they wanted her back.

NJZ and ADOR present their cases at the first injunction request court hearing

On March 7 KST, representatives of the entertainment label ADOR and representatives of the girl group NewJeans (NJZ), including members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, appeared at a court hearing held at the Seoul Central District Court. The hearing involves the injunction request filed by ADOR in January of this year, requesting the verification of its status as the management label of NewJeans (NJZ) and also requesting a ban preventing the members of NewJeans (NJZ) from signing independent advertisement contracts.

On this day, the legal representatives of both sides presented their cases in front of the 50th civil division of the Seoul Central District Court.

First, ADOR's side stated, "The success of NewJeans cannot be explained solely by the talents and the efforts of the group's members. Behind their success is the effort of approximately 50 employees at ADOR, including stylists, music and video producers, choreographers, managers, etc, who devoted themselves to nurturing these artists since they were trainees. Also key to the group's success was the full-fledged support of the plaintiff (ADOR). In total, ADOR received an investment of 21 billion KRW (~ $15 million USD) from HYBE Labels during the launch of NewJeans. It was an unprecedented amount. Thanks to this investment, ADOR committed 10 billion KRW alone to the group's debut promotions and marketing, which included the development and launch of a fan platform exclusively for NewJeans and their fans."

The label's side continued, "NewJeans also took advantage of various intangible assets available to them through their association with HYBE Labels. Prior to their debut, NewJeans appeared in BTS's music video. Their songs received continued promotions through challenges filmed with HYBE Labels artists. Since their debut, NewJeans was frequently referred to as the 'younger sibling group of BTS', per Min Hee Jin's request."

The plaintiff's side then added on, "The requests forwarded by the members of NewJeans cannot justify the unilateral termination of their exclusive contracts. In short, the defendants (NewJeans) are merely arguing, 'HYBE does not like us,' citing this as a valid reason for the termination of their contracts. They have not mentioned any of the common issues typically considered valid reasons for contractual terminations by artists, such as unfair treatment, unfulfilled payments, or restrictions on promotions. Simply claiming that they have lost trust in the company cannot be a legally acceptable reason for the termination of an exclusive contract."

Next, representatives of NJZ pleaded their case. "From 2023 through 2024, the defendants were involved in a number of controversial issues caused by HYBE Labels, including biased media play, 'laying out a new game board after discarding New[Jeans]', ILLIT's plagiarism controversy, conflict with the video production team Dolphiners Films, and more," the defendant's side began, "No other artists under HYBE Labels experienced any kind of treatment resembling the above."

NJZ's side further claimed, "The defendants experienced discrimination even before their debut. Producer Min Hee Jin was brought on after being promised that NJZ would debut bearing the title of 'HYBE's first girl group'. However, the group's debut was then pushed back, and LE SSERAFIM debuted first."

The girl group's side also revealed, "Another example of discrimination involved member Haein, who was selected as an ambassador for a luxury brand shortly after debut. However, not long afterward, the brand chose to sign an ambassador contract with LE SSERAFIM. Upon requesting a clarification, the brand apologized, explaining that HYBE had contacted the brand first."

Representatives of NJZ further brought up the plagiarism issue between the group and ILLIT. "HYBE attempted to replace the defendants with ILLIT. During this process, HYBE copied the NJZ's debut plan proposal. An employee of HYBE even admitted to this. Every aspect of ILLIT's creative branding, from the team's structure, to their styling, and even their choreography resembles NJZ. The fans were the first to point this out. Then, when Min Hee Jin requested an explanation, she was instead hit with a high-degree audit and a lawsuit." the defendant's side stated.

Meanwhile, the five members of NJZ previously declared their intentions to terminate their exclusive contracts with ADOR on November 28, 2024.

NewJeans members make statements at ADOR injunction trial's first hearing

The first hearing regarding the legal dispute between K-pop girl group NewJeans and its agency ADOR took place at Seoul Central District Court on Friday. The lawsuit, filed by ADOR, seeks to block the group from engaging in independent activities while the validity of their exclusive contracts remain in dispute.

All five members of NewJeans — also referred to as NJZ — attended the hearing voluntarily even though there was no legal duty for them to do so.

At the heart of the dispute is whether the group’s contract termination was just. ADOR insists that the members unilaterally severed ties without a valid reason, while the members argue that HYBE’s alleged discrimination and unfair treatment left them with no choice.

During the hearing, ADOR’s legal representatives emphasized the company’s role in NewJeans’ success, arguing that its investment and support were instrumental in transforming the group into one of Korea’s top global acts.

"NewJeans' talent and dedication played a significant role in their success, but that alone does not explain their meteoric rise," ADOR’s legal representation said. "More than 50 staff members, including stylists, choreographers and managers, worked tirelessly from their trainee days to make this happen."

ADOR further argued that the group violated contractual obligations by announcing their new name, NJZ, and by seeking to sign with another agency. The legal team dismissed claims of unfair treatment by HYBE, arguing that contract disputes typically revolve around issues like unfair profit distribution — which it said was not in question.

NewJeans’ legal team, on the other hand, painted a starkly different picture.

It argued that ADOR failed to protect the members from discrimination within HYBE, making the contract void.

"HYBE and its sublabels have persistently marginalized and undermined NewJeans," the group's lawyers claimed. "ADOR didn't have the ability or the willingness to intervene. No other agency would have remained passive in the face of such unfair treatment."

It also cited the ousting of former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin as a severe breach of managerial duty.

"HYBE did not just oust Min. It tried to destroy NewJeans along with her," the group's lawyers added.

The girl group members each spoke during the hearing.

Haerin said she felt "helpless" watching HYBE tarnish their image without ADOR stepping in. Danielle spoke about her fear when Min "faced attacks" from the media.

Hyein accused ADOR of being “filled with HYBE loyalists” who had no intention of defending the group. Hanni alleged "hypocrisy" from HYBE, saying that the agency blocked them while claiming to support them. Minji described the extreme stress and anxiety the members endured ahead of their comeback.

In November 2024, NewJeans members announced the termination of their contracts, citing breaches by ADOR, and began independent activities. In response, ADOR filed injunctions in January and February to prevent the group's activities, asserting that the contracts were still legally binding.

The court has requested additional evidence from both sides. The next hearing is set for March 14.

NJZ’s Hanni faces backlash after ILLIT CCTV footage exposes discrepancy in court

The legal dispute between NJZ (formerly NewJeans) and ADOR took a new turn after CCTV footage presented in court contradicted Hanni’s claims that she was ignored by ILLIT at HYBE’s building.

During the March 7, 2025, hearing at Seoul Central District Court, ADOR revealed CCTV footage showing three ILLIT members bowing at a 90-degree angle to Hanni and Danielle. This directly challenged Hanni’s earlier accusation that ILLIT’s manager instructed members to ignore her. However, since the footage lacked audio, ADOR could not prove whether the alleged instruction was ever given.

It is also reported that after watching the CCTV video, Hanni suddenly let out a laugh, which many interpret as her being dismissive of the severity of the case.

Following the hearing, Hanni began receiving backlash online, with many netizens criticizing her for making claims that now appear inconsistent with the CCTV footage.

Some fans argued that the video did not disprove that the instruction to 'ignore her' was not given, while others accused her of jeopardising ILLIT'S careers over a lie.

After the hearing, Hanni took to social media to clarify her side of the story, claiming that the details had been manipulated and that she had more to reveal.

NewJeans vs ADOR first hearing: Label reveals paying NJZ members 5 billion KRW each as profit fulfilling exclusive contract duty

ADOR presented strong claims of investing their all for the success of NJZ, with the financial backing of HYBE. Read to know more.

NJZ (formerly NewJeans) and ADOR met in court for the first time on Friday, March 7, 2025, to settle their legal and public dispute regarding exclusive contract validity and the independent signing of advertisement deals. The first hearing of ADOR's lawsuit regarding the review of the label's injunction request against NJZ's entertainment activities took place this morning.

ADOR's claims centered on the significant financial backing they provided to the girl group, being instrumental in their stardom, as reported by K-media outlet K-POP Newswire.

The case was held at the Seoul Central District Court’s 50th Civil Affairs, which saw the attendance of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein and the entertainment label's representative. ADOR's side stated that the injunction intended to ensure that NJZ continues their entertainment activities while adhering to their existing contract and involving the management agency in the process.

Lately, NJZ had been attempting to arbitrarily sign advertisement deals and other entertainment contracts without informing ADOR, which, according to them, was not legally permissible.

The label mentioned fulfilling all their promised duties as per the quintet's exclusive contract with them, including paying them 5 billion KRW each as profit settlement fee. Through this point, they rejected the reasoning of the group for their termination of contract with ADOR in November last year. The quintet cited mistreatment and the agency’s failure to fulfill its contractual obligations, leading them to take the drastic decision of parting ways with them.

ADOR's representative attributed NJZ's global success to the lump sum spent by ADOR and HYBE (the company owning an 80% stake in ADOR) on them.

As per the management company's legal counsel, "NewJeans is a group that HYBE invested a huge amount of 21 billion won (about $14.5 million USD) to carefully nurture." Refuting NJZ's allegations of mistreatment, ADOR's representative countered, "There is no company that would foolishly discriminate against and ruin such a group," as a substantial investment had been made in them. The plaintiff also stated, "NewJeans' claims go against objective facts" and asserted that their arguments lack any evidence or legal basis.

As per them, the group "can’t terminate an exclusive contract based on speculation alone." The label maintained their stance on the contract's validity being July 31st, 2029.

ADOR and NewJeans battle in court over contract termination and legal claims

During a dispute over an exclusive contract, ADOR and NewJeans (new activity name NJZ) engaged in a legal battle.

On the 7th, the Civil Division 50 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon) held a hearing on ADOR's request for a preliminary injunction against NewJeans members regarding the preservation of agency status and the conclusion of advertising contracts.

With NewJeans (NJZ) members and ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young present in court, ADOR argued, "There are no grounds for the termination of the exclusive contract." ADOR stated, "Termination of the exclusive contract can only occur in cases of significant obligations being violated, such as failure to provide opportunities for entertainment activities or unresolved revenue. (ADOR) has fulfilled all essential and core duties of the exclusive contract. The reasons cited by NewJeans are unfounded and unrelated to the main contents of the contract."

They further added, "NewJeans’ reasons for contract termination include claims such as 'HYBE dislikes NewJeans' and 'discriminates against them,' but it does not make sense for a profit-seeking private enterprise to bury its only and primary source of revenue."

In particular, ADOR highlighted the dedication of its employees and HYBE's investment of 21 billion won. ADOR claimed, "The success of NewJeans cannot be attributed solely to the members' talents and efforts. Guaranteeing the term of an exclusive contract is the foundation of the K-pop industry, and undermining this has a detrimental effect on the healthy structure of the industry."

They also mentioned NewJeans (NJZ)'s independent activities, saying, "They are accumulating acts of violating the exclusive contract. Are they not trying to create a situation where it is too far to continue with ADOR?"

After the hearing, ADOR rebutted claims that HYBE obstructed NewJeans (NJZ) members from wearing mourning ribbons during the Jeju Air disaster. ADOR stated, "There is no reason for the company to prevent artists from wearing mourning ribbons. At that time, HYBE was conducting a comprehensive review of whether to wear mourning ribbons for not only NewJeans but also all label artists. Considering the broadcasting conditions in Korea and Japan, it was communicated to each label that prior coordination with broadcasters was necessary. The broadcasting team coordinated the subtitles and MC comments regarding the reasons for wearing mourning ribbons in advance. During this process, all artists expressed their willingness to wear the ribbons, and efforts were made to provide the same ribbons to NewJeans. However, they expressed their intention to wear the ribbons they had prepared, and this was respected, leading to the final decision."

NewJeans (NJZ) stated, "The essence of this case is that HYBE and ADOR attempted to discriminate against, reject, and replace NewJeans (NJZ) with another group for disposal." They continued, "Yet they are trying to bind NewJeans (NJZ) like slaves and drive them into obscurity without reflection or apology," mentioning the Ailyt plagiarism controversy, the leak of trainee-era videos, attacks on former CEO Min Hee-jin, and Hanni’s 'ignore it' incident.

NewJeans (NJZ) claimed, "We are frustrated by the attitude that even our unique acts as entertainers cannot be done without the creditor's permission. The essence of this is concerning illegal acts of a specific agency, unrelated to the K-pop industry." The NewJeans members present in court appealed, "Rather than supporting and protecting us, ADOR has continued to harass us from behind the scenes, leading us to conclude that it is no longer possible to continue our activities and fulfill our contract. We hope you can understand these feelings."

Meanwhile, NewJeans (NJZ) declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR last November due to non-compliance, changing their team name to NJZ and continuing their activities. ADOR is currently asserting that the contract with NewJeans remains valid and has also filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract.

CCTV Footage Released: Did ILLIT Members Really Snub NJZ’s Hanni?

The ongoing legal dispute between ADOR and NJZ (formerly NewJeans) took a new turn as CCTV footage and private text messages were presented in court. The footage was released following claims by Hanni that a manager from ILLIT had allegedly told the group to "ignore" her.

On March 7, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 50 (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon) held a hearing regarding ADOR’s injunction to maintain its status as the group's agency and to prohibit the members from signing independent advertising contracts. All five NJZ members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—were present at the hearing.

CCTV Footage and ADOR’s Argument

The CCTV footage from May 27, 2024, submitted by ADOR as evidence, reportedly showed ILLIT members bowing at a 90-degree angle to Hanni. ADOR’s legal team emphasized that the CCTV had no audio recording capabilities, making it impossible to verify whether the alleged "ignore them" comment was actually made.

Additionally, ADOR accused former CEO Min Hee-jin of orchestrating a rift between the NJZ members and the company. To support this claim, they presented text message exchanges between Min Hee-jin and Hanni.

In the conversation, Min Hee-jin allegedly asked Hanni, "Did ILLIT's manager spoke to ignore you?" to which Hanni responded, "I’m not sure." ADOR’s attorney argued that Hanni herself did not perceive the situation as a major issue, yet Min Hee-jin escalated it into a full-blown controversy by framing it as a "deliberate snub."

ADOR Alleges Min Hee-jin Manipulated NJZ’s Actions

ADOR further asserted that Min Hee-jin was operating behind the scenes, influencing NJZ’s decisions. They claimed that Min Hee-jin had told the members that "HYBE is trying to destroy you," fueling distrust.

ADOR argued that by framing incidents such as HYBE's PR team statements, ILLIT’s greeting controversy, and plagiarism allegations in a particular way, Min Hee-jin had led the NJZ members to misunderstand the situation and turn against the company.

NJZ Members Take a Firm Stand Against ADOR

Despite the legal battle, the NJZ members remain firm in their stance that they can no longer work with ADOR. Their legal team reaffirmed that the group has no intention of returning to the company.

NJZ publicly distanced themselves from ADOR in a press conference on November 28, 2023, citing unresolved issues with the company. The following day, November 29, they began operating independently and on February 7, 2024, officially rebranded as NJZ.

ADOR’s Counterargument: Contract Violations and K-Pop Industry Impact

ADOR has countered that NJZ’s independent activities violate their exclusive contract and argued that contract enforcement is crucial for the stability of the K-pop industry’s business model.

"Ensuring exclusive contract periods is the foundation of the K-pop industry. Undermining this system disrupts the industry's sustainable cycle," ADOR stated. They further argued that if NJZ abides by their contractual obligations, they can restore their reputation and continue their legacy.

Additionally, ADOR dismissed NJZ’s demand for Min Hee-jin to remain in charge, stating: "Deciding the CEO is a matter for the board, not something an artist can demand. Nowhere in the contract does it state that the members can terminate their agreement if Min Hee-jin is not involved."

Court Proceedings and Next Steps

The court has set March 14 as the deadline for both parties to submit additional evidence and materials. Additionally, NJZ has been requested to submit a detailed list of reasons for terminating their contract. The case continues to unfold as both sides fiercely defend their positions.

Members of the group New Jins (NJZ) renewed their desire to be with Min Hee-jin,

Members of the group New Jins (NJZ) renewed their desire to be with Min Hee-jin, former CEO of A-Door, not A-Door. In the process, Hye-in and Daniel even shed tears and appealed to listen to their stories.

At 10:30 a.m. on the 7th, the 50th Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Central District Court held a date for an injunction interrogation, including the preservation of agency status and the signing of advertising contracts filed by Adore against Newgens members.

At the end of the trial, the members of the New Jeans came out one by one and said what they had been preparing for when asked by the presiding judge if they had anything to say.

First, Harin said, "I felt helpless seeing Hive and Adore doing nothing to other labels that undermine our performance and destroy our image. We and CEO Min Hee-jin were running happily with good results, but I don't understand why they separated us, he said. "I think it will be difficult to work with a company that has lost faith and trust. And it's too much pain in itself to force it," he said.

Danielle said, "We are sensitive to the condition of each member, so we are concerned about getting hurt or sick. What I want to say is that we are a team of six (including CEO Min Hee-jin) although five people will be on the stage. The CEO was attacked and ridiculous articles poured out, and I was afraid of losing it. I want to continue to be with the CEO in the future," he stressed.

Hye-in then said, "At present, the management has changed to Hive people who ignored our opinions, not CEO Min Hee-jin, who always respected the five of us at any moment. When we speak out about the unfair part and ask for a solution, we only give an answer to put up with it because we can't cause an argument within the company. I don't think we can reach the public with an insincere work in a false situation without CEO Min Hee-jin," he said in tears.

In addition, Hani said, "The current adore criticizes the staff who have been with us from the beginning, and says in the front that they want to work with you. However, it is filled with such untrustworthy people, so it is not reliable to work with such a company," Min-ji said, adding, "The long-standing bullying and discrimination (of Hive) hurt us." Adore, who repeats that he's only doing his best in words, and says that he can recover all when he returns, only makes our wounds deeper. I hope the court will understand how we feel," he stressed.

In particular, after the members' remarks, Daniel raised his hand and expressed his opinion once again, saying, "I have something to tell you for a moment."

"It was so hard until I came out of the door that treated us unfairly until now, and after coming out, I think I felt more difficult," he said. "The managers, representatives, and stylists I trusted and trusted are not all in the door." I'm not sure we can go back there and get protection from anyone. I'm 21 and I don't want to go through the remaining five years like that again. So I wanted to emphasize that I never want to be with Audor no matter how the results come out now," he said, shedding tears.

Newzins and Adore have been in exclusive contract disputes since November last year. As of November 29 last year, Newzins notified Adore of the termination of the exclusive contract and announced that it would start its own activities under the new activity name 'NJZ'. They announced the release of their new song at the "ComplexCon" in Hong Kong on the 23rd.

On the other hand, Adore's exclusive contract with Newzins is valid until July 31, 2029. "Unilaterally claiming that trust has been broken cannot be a reason for termination," Adore said, filing a lawsuit against Newzins on December 3 last year to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract. On January 6, he also applied for a ban on preserving the status of an agency and signing an advertising contract.

The injunction is to be recognized as a management company (planning company) under the exclusive contract until the first trial of the exclusive contract validity confirmation lawsuit filed by Adore at the Seoul Central District Court on December 3 last year.

In addition, it is a measure to prevent Newzins members from doing all entertainment activities such as advertising contracts and music activities independently without the approval or consent of Adore.

Meanwhile, the first pleading date for a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract between Odor and Newzins is scheduled for April 3.
