like its no longer my main personality trait, if that makes any sense? i got into kpop at the end of 2019 and took a really deep dive during covid, 99% of the music i listened to for most of 2020, 2021 and even 2022 was kpop, i preordered all my faves albums, tracked down photocards of my ult biases, watched all the variety shows with my faves, if they starred in kdramas i was there, i hit pause on all the western tv shows i was going to watch because of korean dramas etc.

but this year its like i woke up and reminded myself that there is life outside of kpop most of the music i listened to this year is no longer kpop

i also sold a part of my album collection, didnt preorder the upcoming album of my ults, i only watched one kdrama this year i think (and it was a bl, does it count?), and i dont really keep up with variety etc., on top of that im hearing my ult female bias may not renew

i mean, its not like im divorcing kpop or something like that, i think it will still be one of the genres ill listen to, it really helped me get through covid and was good for my mental health, i just dont see myself stanning new groups and cant really connect with the new generation (5th gen already thats crazy)

Tbh I think it happens with all kinds of interests and hobbies, that people get super into them intensely for some time before calming down a bit. I had that too, though I still like it more than enough to consider it one of my top interests. Nothing wrong with being super interested, semi interested, not interested at all, whatever. After listening to kpop for 11 years I totally understand you. Since October 2022 I took a small break from kpop and decided to focus more on rock/metal music instead and do different things. This happens to most people at some point. When you lose that fire you either leave forever or take a break and then return as just a casual.

My kpop peak was in 2018. Its declined every year since then. I'm now just a casual who checks in every once in a while.

@Vikki had a similar point to one I wanted to make. When I first started stanning the Backstreet Boys, I dove in deep, deep, DEEP! I was so obsessed with them that I would make every single assignment be about them, talk about them nonstop, think about them nonstop, cover my binder in their lyrics, song titles, love confessions ("Nick Carter is a hottie", "Mrs. Nick Carter", etc.)... WOOOOOOOOOO BOY, it was BAD! But nowadays, ofc I'm more focused on other obsessions, but that doesn't mean I'm not still a Backstreet Army. I'm still into them, just not obsessively so anymore.

It can be the same with K-pop. Starting out, I was obsessed with BTS - like, I'd-get-bullied-for-sure-if-I-was-still-in-high-school obsessed - and now that they've enlisted, I still call myself an ARMY, but a casual stan while we wait for the OT7 reunion in 2025 or whatever.

tl;dr it's okay to lose interest, shit just happens sometimes.

Cool i am different since 2010 i have bought 1 non kpop album for myself. I already had 100's onec a month or so ill watch some youtubes of the old songs.

now its all kpop or AKS music.
I refuse to a stream prime netflix ect. ill watch a dvd or bluray (well finally after i reconnected a tv to a player after a year and a half )

and dont worry about Irene. SM has done f all for her for almost 3 years.
