I-fans vs K-fans/netz reaction to "scandals" (1 Viewer)

So, i think it's quite obvious to many kpop fans that i-fans and k-fans+knetz tend to react certain scandals differently, i-fans not necessary seeing some things even as scandal like dating. In other hand there is some things that k-fans and knetz don't see as scandal, but i-fans do for example racial or ethnic insensitivity (Taeyang's monkey year greet, Wendy's mimic of "black" accent etc.).

I'm not sure if i have certain direction for this thread, but let's see what kind of thread it will be when i write it ^^; Sorry if it's bit disjointed.

In general not smiling has never been issue to i-fans, they just like the mysterious cold wibe these idols have and those who like more "approachable" idols just pick another bias no biggie.

Basically it became huge issue due to k-fans and especially korean public. Seungri apologised and YG put him in hiatus to think what he had done. This all really pissed i-vips off since like I said everyone found it funny and memeworthy, people were even somewhat genuinely happy for him for having sex. The korean sentiment couldn't have been more different from i-fans though like they took sth i-fans found positive and fun and made it sth potentially career ending.

There is too many examples of dating scandals to even go check for references, but like everyone knows these comments already.

That was some bigger examples I remember, the Krystal not smiling thing could be mentioned of several idols especially female idols, it seems like having resting bitch face and not smiling is lot more accepted with male idols, also the thing about female idols bodies is reoccuring theme with several idols.

So as i-fan do you get irked about k-fans and knetz reactions towards scandals or do you just take it as sth that is their culture and don't care about it- or do you agree with them on scandals?

I see some different attitudes from i-fans really, like the sentiment that cause one group got punished for scandal another one should be as well (which I personally hate and can't stand), though I think majority including myself think many of the scandals are overblown and some shouldn't been issues in first place. I personally somehow get it's different culture, but i hate how some stuff that are nothing to me, not against my morals or at least not my business (like idols dating, marrying) can be career-ending and ruin someone's image. I would really like if especially knetz could chill a bit about scandals, I don't mean they have to accept everything like people do with US celebrities (i mean drunk driving, promoting drugs and domestic abuse should be at least in my mind taken more seriously than it is).

I get irked with some shit they say tbh and do.
Rarely I agree with them tho.

For example when they are blaming someone after century about something turned false. For example when Taeyong bullying scandal came out false but some still hate him for that.
Or for Bom's medicine and not drugs, still saying she is a "druggie".
Dating "scandals" also. Like let them love and be happy tf.
Also saying Krystal is a bitch bc of her normal face is funny asf to me cuz they wrong.

The only time I agree if someone is indeed in wrong like big time and everyone goes at them.

There are some which I think is fair like if you don't want idols drinking or doing drugs since there is the role model thing but they can affect more than just that since if someone with RBF sees their bias who has RBF get judged for it then that's gonna affect them.

I think toxic cultural differences is good way to put it. Not everything about our or someone's culture is good and positive and sth that simply should be accepted since it's part of that culture ^^

I do get the role model thing, in some aspect it think it's played bit too much in Korea (like in terms of swearing for example and then not accepting apology from idols especially over some minor things like that), but I like it in some aspects too, i think it's better when all celebrities aren't all over the place and try to be good people others can look up to.

I think that any opinion shouldn’t matter much. Idols are humans too and can do whatever they like ( as in dating, getting married, etc). We all make mistakes and we all are learning from them. Acceptance and Forgiveness are what‘s important

I agree with that, i'm really against whole call-out culture and think as long someone shows that they are willing to be better and even more if they already have proven to be better, things they did in the past shouldn't be hold against them- and that's with things they have done wrong, in terms of dating, marrying, that's their own choice and shouldn't be seen as problem.

I used to defend Wendy a lot but I kinda feel indifferent know. Still like her but I realised defending her was more of a knee-jerk reaction of me being anti-sjw in general rather than me being fair so I am sorry about that.
