I forgot to let y'all know I've got adhd and autism (1 Viewer)

Despite some of you guys knowing some personal details (where I am, age, what I'm studying etc.) I'm not someone to announce any life updates but this one feels important enough to share.

I got my diagnosis in August of this year. I've known I may have had autism from last year (my uni friends diagnosed me lmao) but my assessor suggested I also take the adhd one. I'm level 2 autistic and got combined adhd.
A lot of things have been put into perspective definitely, how I often stood out whilst trying to fit in, how I didn't seem to handle loud noises well, how I can't really focus on studying (right now I have my latin notes open, I'm meant to be reviewing Cicero's Pro Caelio lol).
I don't have much to say except that I wanna embrace both conditions. For most of my life I've wondered what was wrong to me and to know there are words and communities for people like me makes me feel really great. I'm not alone.

I started researching adhd last September, my friend already said i might have it but after so much procrastination, I chose to really look into it and I also ended up going into full adhd burnout since October until this October 28th this year It was a terrible year and it was why I was practically a ghost here but I've got much better!!! I'm able to do things and I'm super hpapy! I'm also focused on real goals like learning coding seriously and maybe animation, kps's card game feels pretty unimportant ngl and i dont care to play it now its sad but Idrk if I'll actually abandon it entirely so we'll see ofc I will be here oftenfor my friends!!

I'm so happy you finally have closure! I'm ADHD as well. I'll be having a thought, and then I'll have another thought that ditracts me from acting on that original thought. lol it's a vicious cycle... and then as for the hyperactivity, I have this tic where I squeal like a guinea pig whenever I'm excited or tired. lol this started when I was seven, and it used to be so bad that I had to be medicated for it.

As for your autism diagnosis, my older cousin is autistic, too, so you're defos not alone there.

Did the meds work? Am I allowed to ask that? I've personally been debating if I should get prescribed some or not.

It’s great that you now have those communities for support and validation. I’ve had stuff like that too where I felt like I was wrong for some things, but found groups of people who dealt with the same stuff and it is really validating to not feel like you’re alone in that.

for the tic disorder? yeah, they worked. I don't remember what I took exactly, but if you have one, too, ask your doctor about options.

I think I'm going to when I see my GP, ask whether I should wait until GPs are allowed to prescribe us (a bill has passed for that to happen here) or if I should get referred. Thanks for advice!
