The problems include teh og Kakao deal is awful. Kakao has been running slander sites that target non kakao artists.
This leaves current management in place and if there is any fandom in SM happy with current management i do not know em.

SM is history, longevity, inertial.

Crazy fans can say all they want about how 3rd and 4th gen are not the top in the gen... but Years of Exo Strong RV , Aespa sure is up and down with songs but sales are huge.
and NCT is a monster . just look at the charts i posted some of earlier today.

Kakao is a google / amazon/apple hybrid that has 100% control over much of Korea.
The servers went down within the last year and nation wide chat/ pay/ text ect were gone. Remember SK is the most wired country in the world and its all Kakao.
Kids were whining about a monopoly Kakao is already a monopoly and they were placing their ppl on the board in teh og deal.

Then SM signed all distribution rights globally forever.... they have no global presence.

Kakao is sexy to tech in love ppl but they are zero help doing what SM is bad at, and are most likely the f up what they were good at.

Oh no, I was just glad HYBE wasn’t a thing in the situation. I didn’t think Kakao would be very beneficial either, ideally in my world they’d both have somehow self combusted/knocked out each other. I wasn’t on anyone’s side really, more of an anti against both to a decent level.

The only good outcome of this situation was Lee Sooman coming back in a plot twist which wasn't likely to happen because I've said it before that whatever SM is going forward whether Kakao or Hybe got hold of it would not be SM because they pretty much lost their King using Chess terms.

If the artists under SM leave on their own fruitition it's still better than the moves Hybe pulled on Gfriend and Nu'est although no idea if Kakao will be willing to let the artists have the trademarks either but Hybe definitely would not since they tried to jump on Gfriends last minute as it is.

It's a pick your poison situation because the only good outcome was not gonna happen and that's because Sooman focused on 1 person who immediately wanted to get rid of the company first chance they got.

i think he kept control of the production and that money to keep em on brand.

Bull, why'd he try to undermine the current leadership by derailing the Kakao acquisition in favor of HYBE? Man told Bang PD he shouldn't have let Kakao win. LSM has no care for what he built, only how it served him. Man is known for being beyond shady.

Also, Kakao already owns multiple labels that are doing just fine, so acting like this whole thing is the end of the world is just ignorant.

I assumed Hybe sold the 15% shares as part of the deal between Hybe and Kakao which the use of the word "platform" makes me thing it's something between DearU and WeVerse which Hybe has shown to care about growing WeVerse with what they pulled with V Live. As for Kakao having full control of a company it's not entirely unprecedented since they own about 60% of Starship so they can vote anything through if they wanted to and well WJSN just re-signed apart from pretty much 2 members not counting the Chinese member situation.

I still think it's a concerning situation on what direction SM could go because Sooman was pretty involved that it could be a problem for someone to continue the style SM is known for which could prove a problem long term but that's an issue you couldn't get around with how things went down. There is also the possibility of Kakao or SM going heavy on the AI stuff for aespa since Kakao has access to more technology with that which I'm not sure anyone is really begging for that either.

There's really nothing to do but to just wait and see what actually happens now as Kakao did say SM would be autonomous but that they were going to work on voting a new CEO in a joint statement SM and Kakao put out the day Hybe backed out of the deal which idk if you saw my post about that.

I'd consider this as a transition period right now and for people leaving well do we know why they left? It could be for a significant reason or maybe they decided this is a good time to evaluate their lives and move onto something else which Min Heejin did even before all this mess so without something coming out to suggest there's trouble in paradise there's nothing to really grasp onto either way.

Overall be cautious going forward because it is Kakao and being better than Hybe does not make them an innocent company by far since that's not hard to achieve and ultimately see what moves that make and be aware that Kakao can be pressured into things like how they shut down that idol page talking bad about Ives competitors once fans caught on.
