2024 wasn't a good year for me, either. I was just mentally at an all time low (band pun not intended), not caring for myself or my space. It got so bad that my support coordinator at DDS (developmental disability services) kept threatening to send me to a group home. My health and safety were in danger bc of it. Since then, I'\ve been doing a lot better now. I'm going to a gerat church, and getting closer to our Lord has led me to more self-love and a lot less self-deprecation. I moved into a new condo last March, I'm on a blind bowling league (bowling for blind folk like me), and I have a crush! well, atp he's more like an acquaintance and we'er just FB friends, but yeah.

All kinds! I’ve found some sources that make older recipes and discuss the history behind them. I’ve made everything from the Roman Republic (2nd century BC) to Arabic bread pudding from the 13th century AD, to desserts served on the Lusitania. I was also lucky and able to go to a hearth cooking reenactment, which is pretty rare to be able to do. So interesting and yummy

And don’t worry, rhythmic gymnastics is absolutely a sport that can give injuries, especially overuse. But the focus is more on doing simpler skills like walkovers while doing cool stuff with equipment so there’s less chance of a blunt injury than in artistic gymnastics, other than me managing to drop the club on my head while throwing it or something But on a hobby level it’s less likely to tear a ligament or something I think.

Ooh that’s so cool! Are the recipes more difficult compared to other things you’ve made (non historical) or are they easier? I’ve had some interest in trying to make recipes from different cultures and stuff but I get so lost in all the information that I end up not sure on which one I want to choose first. There’s quite a few Uruguayan desserts that I really want to make that sound so delicious.

It really depends. Recipes that are quite a bit older can be easier in terms of number of ingredients and steps, since before the world was as globalized as it is now there were fewer ingredients they could even use. Not to say they never got complex because they certainly could, for example if they were made for aristocracy. But there are also ingredients that were common then that now it would be harder to get, like when I needed to find long pepper for a medieval gingerbread recipe. And there are also absolutely techniques that were common then that aren’t now, which means you need to find a substitution that’s close enough. And if you directly use an older source, recipes could be very vague because they were either just bullet points made for themselves or otherwise the writer just wasn’t specific. Plus the fact that measurement standardizations were different or even nonexistent. But I get around that issue because I usually use modern sources that recreated the dish that usually specify possible substitutions. But other than all that, they can really be pretty simple. The recipe from the 2nd Century BC had like 5 ingredients, the steps were basically mix the ricotta and flour, make balls, deep fry in olive oil, and coat in honey and poppyseed. Not a lot of steps or ingredients, but they turn out delicious. As someone who makes modern recipes from other cultures I have to say it depends on the recipe in terms of if a modern one is easier or not, though they share some of the same difficulties (like sourcing ingredients).

Personally I have ADHD and I dont necessarily find EVERY piece of content that kpop groups produce to be interesting enough to sit through and I stan a lot of groups so I just do I want to, not what 'I should do', I dont watch all their content, I dont even force myself to listen to all their music when I'm not ready to try there's no right way to engage with music, there's only your way and what brings you comfort and joy

I am very sorry for the loss of your cats I'm happy you have a new cat to love and care for now

I agree completely, I used to have up to 100+ tabs of just Ateez and NCT content up on my phone that I felt I needed to watch for some reason. I’m glad I took a step back from it all.
