She is THE child star of all time.

Back in the day studios owned the contracts of artists , similar to kpop.
MGM offered 3 A list male stars in permeant trade for her as Dorthey but her studio refused. ( still on the fence over that ST was soo young (ie the real age of Dorthey in the books ) that it would have been especially scary for kids at the monkeys/witch.)

She made millions in depression era money, that her dad blew on gambling so when she got to 18 it was gone.
