This is a very amateurish, not really high quality patati patata dedicated to @Jimimis , @PrideInBaek and everyone who spares a minute to read this.
My attempt was a bit of wuxia, a bit of Oh my Emperor!, silly, angsty thingy, so please be kind :D. Don´t crush my ego with your high heel dark boots. Don´t forget I´m not a native speaker, so sorry for my funny English, but think it as cute :D.
Brighter! Bigger! Better! More and more and more! Kpop was taking the throne, kpop was everywhere and where BTS paved the way ,NCT had to follow. They had become bright stars, bright and big stars. A huge plethora of boys, young and crazy. Every single one of them used to dream about becoming an idol, about singing and rapping, dancing, hearing adoring screams from fans, getting out of the ordinary day to day life of nobodies and leaving a mark in this world. Egoistic, selfish, ambitious, perhaps but Taeyong knew he was one of them. He trained hard, stayed up late and still shivered over the screams of his fans. He still managed to blush and smile shyly. But he had eyes only for one - Doyoung. Flirtatious and sweet like honey. They had been flying around each other for YEARS, always pushing the buttoms, testing how far they could go, but never crossed the line, never caused any suspicion or did they? The fans loved to ship them and they would laugh it off, waving their hands, shut up the teasing of their members, but in reality Tae had always wanted to ask "really, you wouldn´t? even if I asked you to?" But he had never been that kind of person, not brave enough, not sure enough about his feelings. Soon, they would be separated by the military duty and the duty to their fans.
Duty to their fans. What kind of life was that? He constantly felt indebted, watched, guilty. What if he woke up rude and didn´t pay enough tip? What if he looked bad? What if he forgot to shave? The constant criticism, the constant insecurity. He was tired and he all he wanted to do was fell into a coma and sleep for five years and that was when his guilt came to haunt him. He was successful, rich, adored, pampered and taken care of. He barely knew how to cook, he barely knew how to live alone. He had never been alone, never felt lonely... or did he? Those nights when he was so tired when he couldn´t fall asleep, when he simply wished to be in someone´s arms, Doyoung´s or someone else´s. Maybe just maybe he wanted to ... escape.
And he had started to find his escape in walking through forests, running into places where he was unknown, lost and perhaps afraid. It was his new drug, his new addiction. He wanted to ask life, TAKE ME, CHALLENGE ME, MAKE ME FEEL. He was exhausted and yet he could not sleep. It was just amazing how they were in China. China, he had always loved the country, Lucas managed to make everyone fall in love with him and with China. Lucas represented all that wicked humour, the calmness, the politeness, repressed feelings, all the hard work and perfection that China stood for but also the silly side in him made Taeyong always remember how big, how different and versatile China was from what people believed in. But Tae was not fascinated by the lights, the buzzing city of Chengdu, the crazy food that he had eaten so much he was sure a fish was growing in his belly, it was the nature that called for him.
He knew they were about to perform tomorrow and he was supposed to be resting. The managers reminded them about 8 hours of sleep but no one had ever got any sleep. They were training or they were practicing. Sometimes they were so exhausted by insomnia and so drained that all they could do was playing computer games, but who really got time for that with all the vlives, instagram lives and writing new songs? Tae took the keys, hid his damaged, blue-coloured hair under his hoodie and got lost. He turned around on the street and looked Doyoung´s window. He knew he was not following him and he knew he had never asked him to, but sometimes he imagined him running from the door and stopping him "Taeyong, where are you going? Can I come with you?" He played that scene uncountable times, various different scenarios, better than any kdrama. But it had never happened.
The forest wasn´t deep and the night was not a dark one. It was almost summer, almost June and nights were short, days long and the weather was yet to reach its hottest temperatures. It was easy to forget the time and get lost, but he wasn´t afraid to lose his path. He had walked the forests countless times, these days forests weren´t for Hansel and Gretel - deep, dark and scary. They were civilised, kept well and lots of people met there during some night adventures. He met a couple of runners, bikers, some kids riding skateboards and no one cared about NCT, kpop or him in general. Perhaps if they paid more attention, they would have noticed but even he had to admit that his usually gorgeous features were tired, and he did miss the tricks of good make up and a stylist.
Something was off, he knew that, but he couldn´t stop himself from walking, he walked and walked and walked until his feet hurt and his head felt dizzy. Tiredness got the worse of him and he wasn´t surprised as he hit a stump, fell down like an awkward kid and scratched his knee. He was three again, sitting there dumbly, looking around himself. Damn, it was truly getting dark, no flashlight, nothing. Now, he was getting truly scared. His fantasy got the worst of him - wild animals, crazy murder mysteries, witches and vampires. He didn´t know what to do, no mobile phone, nothing. He didn´t want to take one because he was SURE someone would eventually call him to come back and he had wanted at least a bit of freedom. What was he supposed to do?
So he stood up and kept walking, he tried walking back and he walked what he had believed was for hour or two or three. lost the track of time, he simply gave up and decided to freeze to death, pitying himself till the last minute. But the night wasn´t freezing cold and no animal was enough interested. Every single sound scared him and he managed to see deer, fox (?), and whatever else made the sound he was too scared and too stupid to detect. But the short nights gave him the ability to get out of that nightmare soon, only to walk a couple of miles and to find a village ..... village, not the city they were supposed to be in.
