Ideal amount of members? (2 Viewers)

I was looking up some of the newer groups, and I kinda feel like that group sizes have grown quite a lot? It's not too unusual to have 10+ members in a group, and at least I feel like this wasn't the case a few years back. It also seems like people in general aren't too excited to see too big groups pop up, so here we are!

What do you think is the ideal amount of members, or just a good amount of members in general that you enjoy?

I personally think 5 or 6 members is alright. It makes getting to know them a little easier, as usually I get super stressed out even thinking about it when I find a new group... my memory is just the worst. Choreos also usually don't look as messy and they're easier to focus on, for example I remember thinking Loona's favOriTe was a bit hard to look at (although I love the song) and that it might've been better overall if there were less members. I guess it's sometimes better for the members too to have a smaller group, if they don't have to fight for lines that much. why do i stan seventeen that i really dunno

Please do tell what you think, I'm curious as to what the general consensus here is~

Hm 6 because it looks good when they dance it's also nicely divided like 3 left 3 right. 7 Can look good too but then you'll often see one member being the center unless it's their singing part. But both 6-7 is a good amount for me.

For a musically focused group (predominantly vocal and rapping strengths) id say 5. For a dance focused group, anywhere from 8-14 is pretty good, with 9 or 10 being the best.

It depends honestly. I think some groups work better with more members and some with less. For groups like SNSD 9 members work perfectly and in 2NE1 only 4 members are great. I think it depends on their concept (i.e. groups with complex dances work better with more members to better show off the dance and create more complicated dance moves, etc.) and the overall group balance. Im general, there needs to be at least one leader type person, one main dancer, one main vocal, one main rapper, and one visual. These positions can be given to one member, for example a leader can also be the main rapper, but at that point it’s best to add more members who can also rap so the leader doesn’t face too much pressure, I guess? So between 5-6 is normally a good number but there can always be more or less.

Honestly, personally I like groups with a lot of members (as you can see from the groups I stan: fromis_9, Twice, IZ*ONE, Loona...). I mean, more members = more members for me to love.
But at the same time, maybe with less members, each of the members has more time under the spotlight, which is a positive.

I also think this is why weve been seeing an increase in large groups, a lot of the newer groups, mostly bgs, are definitely dance focused, like SF9 and TRCNG, and they do it incredibly well. It just doesnt work as well when it is a group that needs to show off members vocals, if no one gets lines no one will be able to impress much of anyone

I think this is where a good choreographer comes in. I mentioned not being too fond of favOriTe's choreo, and I think it just shows that choreographing for a bigger group is much harder and should be done with care. It's important to have proper formations and such, so there are some risks with having a huge dance oriented group in my mind. Although it admittedly does look really good when done right.

Now that you mention it yeah, that seems to be the case. Good dancing is also now held in much higher regard, so maybe we will someday go back to smaller groups when trends change.

9 is the golden number though, with twice and snsd really, but personal fav. is 4 lol

Despite me stanning big groups like SNSD and medium sized groups like GFriend. I've always thought 4 members is ideal for any group lol.

5 is ideal for me, they look a group, but you still notice individual members. The line distribution isn't too bad either and everyone has space to show what they can do.

I'd say 5 because it's just easier to get to know all the members. But I'd take 7 at most as seen with my current bias group.

maybe i used to groups with many memebers (well i stan the one who started it) 😁 and i like exo snsd seventeen nct .. so i don't find problem to get to know them and i think it also has positive side for exp in concert their perf and even if a member is absent they could easly cover it or leave the group it can't be a reason for disbandment and i prefer their choreography but it take time for some memebres to shine and show their talent in the contrary in groups like 5 memebrs or less

Looking at my bias groups, around six or seven is ideal. EXO are my ults though and I love them as 9 (well, 12)
