Like Disney, I get that nostalgia is profitable but there is a limit to it. At this point you are embarrassing yourself. If you really want to be seen as "inclusive" hire people to research about princesses of other cultures, like idk go research SEA,South Asian or African (I'm using this term loosely I know there are many tribes with varying cultures) culture to learn about the stories of their princesses. Like if putting out the same but worse version of a movie gets you money I bet that you would get more money from actually putting out something original? :susPepe:

for disney, making reboots really make no sense. there's a good video out there that shows they used to constantly start pumping out rereleases of their classic films when becoming comfortable with DVD/VHS so the reboots is the alternative to that seeing no one buys DVDs anymore. but it makes no sense considering how iconic and already accessible Disney films are. it's one thing if they were to make a live action film of some of their least appreciated works like Treasure Planet or The Black Cauldron. but very, very popular franchises like Aladdin or The Lion King make no sense to me other than them being desperate for money. i don't mind the reboots being inclusive, but Disney knows well they easily could try more with their animation studio considering how successful they can be. Like yes it takes a lot more time and effort, but that's what was the beauty behind the classic films: beautifully animated films that managed to grab all audiences. There's still many fairytales out there worth retelling and hopefully if their upcoming animated film hits Frozen/Moana numbers (which likely will), we could get a few more inclusive princess films this era.

the only "plus" of reboots is we sometimes get new merchandise for the classic works (at least in disney's case). i haven't liked any of the Disney reboots one bit, but i did appreciate seeing lots of new Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast things in stores- well at least the ones not based on the reboot at least lol.

im a huge disney fan so i kinda had to rant lol

Disney is just all about the coin. No creativity is left there.
On other reboots ... some just want to put a new twist on something old which is why some old series get a special or a reboot ( like Full House for example with Fuller House or Charmed). It sometimes makes sense cause we follow or get an update on a world we did enjoy watching. A reason why I love Fuller House is for example how well old and new is combined and how we can see how deep all the friendships are.

I was staying far away from the live actions but my family convinced me to watch Aladdin on mothers day and it was worthwhile.
Will Smith was good in a different way and some of the things like the carpet and the insane entrance felt very much like they were remembering it was animated.

I like the reboots. But then again I worship all things disney <3
I am not really concerned about the coin they are making, as long as I have a good time watching.
