No like the patient doesn’t know what’s being done to them. So either the doctor didn’t explain it well enough to them or it went in one ear and out the other for the patient

This will not happen in Germany. Clinicians here are legally bound to inform patients why they're doing a surgery and what will be done - even before emergency surgeons if the patient is still responsive. I had a few surgeries so far and I always had received comprehensive information before. My family doctor told me, a doctor at the hospital told me again. And then there was a talk with an anaesthetist before the surgery. I had even signed a document before the surgery, where I assured that I fully understood the information I received. I have no private health insurance with better options, it's just standard procedure in Germany.

There are a few things I don't like about my country - but overall there's good medical care.
