Just wanted to vent for a second.

So to put it simply I am a dummy who doesn't take medical issues seriously when it comes to myself.
I've been having recurrent UTI's the last 3 years.
I've been to the doctor about 3 different times for them but was trying to manage on my own.
I ended up throwing up because nausea from dealing with the UTI's got extreme.
So I got referred to a specialist-long story short my insurance was pulled.
I didn't realize it until right before my appointment so I called to see how much out of pocket it would be
they said 270 for the basic appointment.

I thankfully got on insurance and rescheduled.
I went in today and talked to the doctor for a total of 10 minutes.
THAT? THAT WOULD'VE COST ME 200+ OUT OF POCKET!?!?!



MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Also I am aware that for a bladder to show up on an ultrasound
you need to have fluid in the bladder.
SO I have to drink 32 oz of water before my appointment with them tomorrow.
I GET KIDNEY PAIN NOW IF I HOLD THAT AMOUNT FOR 30 MINUTES.
I GOT TO DO IT FOR AN HOUR TOMORROW.

I'm going to die.
RIP me.

(P.S I know doctors go to years and years of expensive schooling and go through clinicals to do what they do and its
more intense when you are in specialty. But wow that is so much for being told to come back the next day for an ultrasound
and that be it. Not dismissing that hard work or education just fuck the system.)

Exactly. I was so shocked when they told me that's what I would have to pay so I immeddiately was like...cancel the appointment.

luckily he bulk billed me, or I'd say it was a waste of time.

That's good. Here you can go through the public system for free, but it takes many months to see someone.

Honestly, specialists don't really spend that much time with you. Most of the time mine asks about severity of symptoms recommends an increase in dosage or change in medication and may give referrals. I'd say 10 minutes is par the course.
