some of you may remember a thread i made in july about na jaemin. unfortunately that was NOT a temporary infatuation like i thought. however, it did bring some positive benefits lmao
i'm probably not the only one who experiences this, but i went through a weird period, probably because of stan twt, where i took kpop too seriously and tried to over analyze everything and be cynical, like 'our faves don't actually care about us and the companies are corrupt and only want to make profit' etc.
this is frequently true. but it was hanging over my kpop experience like a dark cloud and draining the fun out of it. i couldn't look at any of my favorite groups without finding something wrong and feeling miserable for the way they were being treated. a lot of the releases this year have also disappointed me, which didn't help.
i don't think kpop should ever be deeply analyzed because it's just kinda depressing if you think about it for too long. it's supposed to be looking at hot people being hot and buying overpriced albums.
anyways i was sulking along and desperately trying to figure out which kpop idol i'd be most compatible with or something when suddenly, on twitter, there was a gif of jaemin on my timeline that interested me, and i fell into a wormhole. being the cynical asshole i often am i was very hesitant to get into any new groups or new idols because i assume they'll become problematic or the attractiveness and intrigue of the group will wear off. but it never happened with jaemin. he has a special kind of personality. and the face doesn't hurt.
he's not the most talented idol or the hottest at all. but he saved me from despising kpop. so there's that.
