Is f(x) the most diverse girl group ever? (1 Viewer)

2 Koreans.

2 Americans.

1 Chinese.

Is there any other girl group, especially from the Big 3 that has more foreigners than locals in its lineup?

And this group was formed over 10 years ago. That makes them even more ahead of their time than they already are.

I wonder about majority, cause groups in general are pretty diverse these days. I mean not in terms of race, everyone is still asians pretty much but nationalities at least.

Blackpink has half, but it's not majority.

Half of (G)I-dle are International members. They have 3 Korean members, a Chinese member, a Taiwanese member and a Thai member.

It hasn't been easiest for kpop in China in a while.. aka after Tzuyu's flag scandal. China has tried to block kpop a bit and promote c-pop instead. Twice was clever to also have japanese members. Even if relationsh between countries aren't best.. that's still where the market for kpop largely is.

SM with sr20g will be putting alot of weight on say Ning Ning, Hina, (the new semi Aussie), and others are rumored.
SNSD was 1/3 american by birth.

China is an issue and i am not sure there is a solution. The agencies want the money and talent, but would REALLY prefer to not have to deal with the politics.

Even Fx never promoted in China significantly that is with Vic and Amber. This shows just how much politics has played with this.
And ofc we all know what happened to EXO M.

Snsd was going to try but it ended up being just Yoona after Sicagate.

What was really interesting about f(x) was that the leader was a foreign national and was really pretty loved nationally through the run. And she had what was basically a 3 language group to lead in a language she herself was still trying to learn.

Miss A (2 Koreans 2 Chinese) and BP (2 Korean, Thai, Australian) were right down the middle.
Oddly, we've switched from Chinese being acceptable and Japanese not, to Japanese members being in high demand but Chinese members being a no-no. Politics plays heavier in kpopery than we give credit for. All the lawsuits (SM bgs), scandals and controversial SNS posts (Vic Fei etc being the first ones) have pretty well soured the image of Chinese in the eyes of Koreans. THAAD definitely didnt help. That Everglow kid got a lot of hate when she debuted
Now, with the tense relationship between Korea and Japan, rightwingers went heavily against Twice and other Japanese idols.
SEA idols are considered at the bottom of the barrel
Even ethnic Koreans raised abroad (Jungsis, Tiffany, Rosie, Jennie) get a lot of shit for not being real Koreans.

Foreigners are a smart move economically but agencies need to treat like human beings and not cash cows, and Koreans need to be more open minded

When i first was learning about f(x), i figured their proportion of Korean to foreigner was so different-67% when 3 out of 5. Then 75% when 3 out of 4. That was crazy to me even if you count Krystal as Korean-American; I wonder now if that played a part in their concept as experimental.

No other group i learned about has close to their proportion, some like BP and (G)I-DLE are 50% unless you count Jennie's upbringing, then kinda same as f(x) in the end. I do think it does affect the international fanbase somehow, like Twice and Red Velvet have lots of i-fans. I dont think its i-fans supporting foreigners tho, more like the identity of the group makes up a international-friendly concept; but seems like f(x) is exception to this. Im just rambling n blathering here now.
(I dint know about Miss A at 50%).

I do like girl groups with more international members, they seem more identifiable to me somehow, except Gfriend i guess; they have lots of S.E.A. fans with only Korean members.
