Yeah I do, lol I always have excess energy or am drained bc I don’t get rest bc of adhd

just say I’m trying to study, it’s not the most helpful to do spend time doing smth physical like that, esp when I get the energy back rlly quickly bc “stamina”

I see I see it must be very difficult trying to do something like studying which requires a lot of focus
I don't have any conditions personally but I remember having friends who had issues focusing at school and it was a huge struggle for them to concentrate

I have no idea how it's like in austrailia or if it turns out they had smth similar and would be diagnosed nowadays

but as early as 3 or 4 years old in preschool/pre-k I was put in a special class bc I couldn't pay attention and had too much energy to nap at naptime so signs were early but America overdiagnoses boys and underdiagnoses girls so I didn't get diagnosed till a decade after that

ummm..it's still a process to get diagnosed but even then since I attended schooling like 20/30 years ago lol I think the knowledge and understanding of certain conditions have been greatly improved since back then 90s??? a lot of kids were falling through the cracks as you will

that makes sense it would've improved a lot by now

neurological conditions that arent quite learning disabilities and not quite social disabilities are a bit hard to diagnose I guess

for here, it is ridiculous how they overdiagnose boys especially extroverted boys but underdiagnose even the most talkative girls

for my high school, they had me play a video game and said I didn't have it but diagnosed my brother bc his teacher in third grade once said he spoke out of turn

they ignored when I was in trouble and in special classes but use such a tiny thing that most 8 year olds do as the basis? I don't know if he does actually have it but my brother doesn't think he has it either (and bc of how they diagnosed and knowing him and having it I don't think he does)

hmmm...that is true
I think it's also because (at least down under) everyone from admin to teachers nd students and whatnot are more aware of the different conditions and are better trained to detect them for both boys and girls
also the stigma surrounding it is lessened because of that awareness

so officially is your brother diagnosed with adhd like yourself?

yeah officially he is

he doesn't think he has it tho, and my mom was kinda pushing for him to get diagnosed bc of school performance bc of me getting diagnosed earlier but he doesn't want to have special classes and all that, and the performance (in my and his opinion) was more lack of trying than being unable to focus on it

when the main deciding factors were him procrastinating and one complaint from third grade

it is genetic not "nature" for nature vs nurture" tho so it's possible he does have it but not as bad as severe as me perhaps

they might've also used me having it to diagnose him since it's genetic

the crazy thing is they said he used to have combined (hyperactive + inattentive) but now as he grew older he has just inattentive mostly

you're in the US right? don't they have things like IEP and special education plans for people with adhd?
