When I use the term "hot", I'm basically objectifying somebody that I don't truly respect. It's not a term I use much anymore, because I love and respect women. It was mostly something I used more in my youth, when I was with "the boys" and trying to sound macho... which is immature and stupid.

The term "pretty" or "beautiful" is much more endearing and respectful and should be the norm.

but it doesn’t have to be looks, it can be the way they do something, it can be their voice, etc. but yeah the attraction is physical

and like nice is softer than sweet imo (with regards to describing a person)

pretty can definitely be used in more ways and can be used to basically everyone

But hot is a certain feeling, aura ig

like someone being smart can be “hot” to another person, or someone being confident

I don’t think they’re completely interchangeable either, but I think beautiful can be used when you could say hot as it’s not as soft as pretty

but it’s like for that specific type of attraction, someone being attractive to you

If this helps at all, (no I had no idea what hot means at that time) when I was 12, I never thought I was pretty, or beautiful, or even cute, but I thought I was “hot” bc at that time I took it to mean cool looking.

After I wore my favorite jacket, I was like I look cool, and I didn’t think I was pretty or anything, so I was like I’m not pretty, but I think I look cool, and so I was like I’m not pretty but I think I look hot (not knowing what it meant at that time) Cuz who do tweens see being described as hot? The guy who does “cool” things like ride a motorcycle, be himself, not afraid to take risks. The girl who is not afraid to dress how she thinks looks good, “looks good and knows it” is confident, and not afraid to be herself, and for herself, but is still kind to others

Now pretty. Pretty is milder, and softer like I said. It has a certain vibe, a certain connotation. Delicate. Sitting down, submissive. “Perfect” if perfect is defined in this very strict way. it’s not just looking really good and def not being a good person
