I feel your pain. Especially when your family isn't the typical American that has been here since the 1700s.

Sorry that you had to go through that too. It really does suck not fitting in the mold and then being expected to be in the mold

Yes and no. I don't part take in traditional clothing but traditional customs such as how I treat my elders, how I cook, what i cook, how I was raised in my culture has influenced who I am and my view on certain things. Much like where you live influences your identity also.
I'm more in touch with carribean culture than my Filipino however they share a few customs and views especially when it comes to family to its easier to embrace both.
Its a good chunk of who I am but its a small part of a bigger puzzle.

To an extent, I would never move back to Russia or anything but it definitely influenced me growing up. I was also sort of “Americanized” though, so I’m in between of my old culture and new one.

Kinda honestly. French Canadian traditions are super different comparing to the English Canadians and I only really noticed it until I moved in Ontario for a bit, it felt different. It didn't feel like home at all. English Canadians love to deny this fact, that Quebecers have no culture when in fact we do, it's heavily influenced by the French. I also notice it more since I date an American.
