It's okay, it has some jump scares and gore, but it’s not really scary
But especially the first movie is really great, bc it’s a horror movie with a good plot and likeable characters

I only watched the remake tho', not the old movie

cant say for the remake since I haven't seen it all the way through.. but the 1990 one was scary for me. But I was 5, so... and I find the og Pennywise to be more menacing given that he looks like a clown from a kids party and the newer one looks intrinsically evil and it comes off a bit try hard... The old pennywise gives me John Wayne Gacy vibes which is scary.

oooh i think i'll give both versions a watch~! i might start w the remake tho because i noticed older horror movies can be a little cheesy sometimes (the visuals are usually scarier and more interesting but the music and loud jumpscare sounds take away from the scary experience a bit) but since it's such a classic i feel like i have to watch it at least once

I think [as an adult] what is so scary about it is how it can be seen as a metaphor for child sexual abuse. Like the part with Pennywise in the storm drain after Georgie loses his boat. This goes to the 1990 version of Pennywise being more innocent looking and symbolic of a gentle adult when he is really a psychopathic predator. That scene at the beginning still gives me chills.

It's a great watch. I've read the novel as well.

I just read the book ten years ago. Some parts were a slosh, but I did really enjoy it. Honestly, it could [the book] be labeled as a psychological thriller given that many of the characters are developed through their childhood and it shows through the rhetoric. Eddie is a reflection of his dysfunction relationship with his mother and he basically marries his mother. Henry Bowers is the reflection of how extreme abuse can manifest in conduct disorders. Stan's issues with control really manifested in his eventual suicide. Plus the ideas of the existence of IT causing everyone's neurosis and latent psychotic natures to be worsen as well as how the 'losers' repress the memories of Derry from their childhood.

Makes my love for clowns go wild!

Just watch an episode of one piece with buggy and you should be good. lol

lmfao. I just watched Stand by Me last night. I'm tired of childhood friends stopping being friends. Its annoying. and probably common. but still annoying. And then people dying. Such a shame.
