Fair, tbh. SME was really vindictive toward them. It's impressive they did relatively okay despite that.

Not everyone who SME has messed with can say that. Taking a trip down memory lane with their lengthy "controversies" section on wikipedia, which is primarily just lawsuits from their own idols that they kept losing.

SM takes the hit for the black list. But i have long felt it was the industry its self who did it.
Most agencies were using the exact same contract as given from the government. The industry ppl read it (like i do ) as they wanted that Japan cosmetics deal and found a way to break the contract and cause chaos.

New Jeans is heading full speed for the same cliff. Hybe will not have to do anything the industry will black list em in Korea. and Hybe will take the pr hit.

Interesting. I can see that, though. Filing what is perceived as a frivolous lawsuit and losing would make businesses more hesitant to work with you. I got into kpop post-JYJ/TVXQ, but the NJ seems to be on a similar path to the former FiFi members. Though maybe NJ has some evidence that will actually let them win idk.

It'll be interesting to see how kpop being bigger internationally these days affects things.
