Other than Yuqi and Xaioting I've never liked a Chinese idol (from mainland china) enough to care about it but I understand they make a lot more money.

Things might be changing as we come to the 4th and 5th generations especially the more successful idols however as you have put it they can make so much more money in China which is the reason why like Yuqi has a permanent gig in Keep Running (Chinese equivalent of Running Man)

I've actually read in several articles that Korean law stipulates native Koreans have to make a bigger cut than non-koreans and they get taxed extra. Comparatively Lisa made a lot less on gigs in Korean vs. ones outside korea. probably also why she started her own company. she's no longer has to make less since she's her company's only idol.

Well they also have to pay taxes to China and Korea. So there is that.

In SK you have a population of 125million to make money from. In China you have a population of 1.4 billion + another 125 Million for Taiwan. I totally get why they'd go to China. Of course once your in China your money is essentially trapped and you become a CCP pawn if they want but that's another story entirely.
