I would ask them what kind of music they generally like and then tailor my recommendation based on that. It's been way more successful than going "X is my favorite" or "everyone likes Y." If Gangnam Style was going to convert them, it already would have.

i've had success with shinee. fortunately enough this friend also happened to like sherlock (the tv show) so... you guess the song i played for her haha. following it up with lucifer sealed the deal

I usually base my recs on what people tell me they're interested in. I usually end up showing people EXO, RV or NCT because they all have the r&b style I like. Since NCT is off the table..

I find a lot of people are very interested when I'm playing Baekhyun songs. Not only is his voice amazing, but people are quite surprised that this mellow R&B song is a kpop song, based on their preconceptions on kpop.

I’d mostly stick with English K-Pop songs because:

1) You’d be surprised how many people that aren’t into K-Pop get shocked at the mere idea of an English K-Pop song.

2) Being able to understand the lyrics is important to some people.

I’d start with Gone by Rose because of this reason, but also because it sounds like the type of song you’d hear on the radio in a Western country. Even if they never heard it before, it’ll probably sound familiar and not too unusual.



For a more upbeat song, I’d choose Star by Loona, since it plays all over the place, and chances are, they might have heard it in public, but just had not known it is a K-Pop song.

What i have used is stuff i watch SNSD, RV , fx, gfriend, apink, Wendy Taeyeon.
