Like you can know when to use certain words but if asked about the grammar rule about it you don't know why exactly it works and have to think about the patterns of usage. It's not just me right?

My favorite part about Gujju is you can say a sentence forwards and backwards and it will still make sense. Why? No clue.

I was thinking specifically on when to use a certain word when counting. Which can be intuitive but has as set rule

my son is in school so learning about english and spelling and what not and just reminded me that English is one of the most stupidest languages in hte world with so many exceptions and rules and then words that just don't make sense...

English doesn’t have good reasons

yes it is. i feel that same struggle with hindi and bengali and sometimes english

like in hindi pronouns aren't necessarily gendered, but verbs, adjectives, etc are. and i didn't realise this until very recently. and i'm pretty sure msot speakers wouldn't have really noticed.

and much like french, in hindi there's grammatical gender for even inanimate objects. but bengali doesn't even have it, in fact, even verbs and adjectived aren't accorded to the gender of the noun (for example, in the sentence "that small girl went", "small" and "went" would have feminine endings in hindi, but in bengali there's only one form of "small" and "went" which aren't gendered. hopefully this makes sense idk). now ask me to explain that and i wouldn't

but it's different for languages you formally learn ofc
